Shiva, Shakti and the

Five Senses

Words do not fall into the

Void Sepher ha Zohar

Shiva is the Sun, Shakti is the Moon

Shiva is the outbreath, Shakti is the
inbreath
Shiva is above, Shakti is below
Shiva represents the 35 consonants,
Shakti represents the 15 vowels

Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Aether are the

five elements
Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Aether are
related to the five senses
Aether pervades all and is one with
Space, Time and consciousness itself

The wheel of letters is identical to

the wheel of the sidereal zodiac
The wheel of letters is modulated
by the five elements
The elements are modulated by the
planets, day and night
Our whole body is the cosmos and
the union of Shiva and Shakti

Shiva-Shakti united are the point,

bindu in the centre of a downwards
pointing triangle
The three points of the triangle
represent Iccha (will), Jnana
(knowledge) and Kriya (action)
They are also three centres in the
body, at the head (moon), at the
heart (sun) and in the genitals (fire)

People do not know how little they

see, taste, smell, touch or feel
The second degree of AMOOKOS
included a 26 week practice to
demonstrate this
The goal was to demonstrate the
unity of the knower or subject, the
instruments of knowing (the senses),
and the known (objects)

Examples of the practice

Week 1 Differentiate as many shades of the colour grey as
you can, always trying to remember if you have seen the
same particular shade previously
Week 2 In others' conversation listen carefully for the
emotional content and note any discrepancies between the
emotional content and literal meaning of the words the
persons use
Week 3 Be aware of the taste of all foods as they are
eaten Differentiate as many shades of taste as you can,
and note preferences and dislikes
Week 4 Use your sense of smell, firstly by trying to be
aware of the fact you have a sense of smell
Week 5 Maintain your awareness of the ground that you
walk, sit and lie upon

We dont feel our own bodies

We dont listen to other people
We dont taste the food we eat
We dont see whats going on
We are ignorant of the smell of
things

Sense impressions bombard us

constantly
We are ignorant and unaware of
most of them
You can become aware of many
sense impressions consciously,
rather than unconsciously

Three centres sift the flood of

sense impressions
In Sanskrit theyre called
Ahankara, Buddhi and Manas
They correspond to the ego, to the
reasoning function, and to the mind

The knower, the means of knowing

and the known are all forms of
consciousness
That consciousness is the union of
Shiva and Shakti
The instruments of knowing are
the five senses
Whats known are objects, or sense
impressions

I know this
I is the union of Shiva-Shakti,
the knower
know represents the instruments
of knowledge
this represents the objects or
the sense impressions
All three represent one state of
consciousness

A sentence with subject, object and

verb is a mantra
Words do not fall into the void
They come out of the void
