CHAPTER I. INTRODUCTION
I. Background of the Study
In recent years, Samsung Electronics
Corporation has diversified innovations for
home appliances and audiovisual devices.
From a variety of mobile phones, they have
created an excellent selection of smart phones
and tablet computers that proved superiority
among other renowned brands.
Despite the companys consistent growth in
providing top notch phones they have chosen
to expand their collection of consumer
entertainment devices. Samsung is also a
major vendor of flat panel televisions that
exceeds the expectations of the current
generation.

CHAPTER I. INTRODUCTION
The company showcases a complete line of
high-tech televisions from LCD (Liquid Crystal
Display), LED (Light-Emitting Diode), and
Plasma to 3D Televisions. In fact, they have
acquired the title for being the world's largest
television manufacturer since 2006.
And now as they continue to offer New
Technology,
Innovative
Products,
and
Creative Solutions they have introduced a
new age of televisions that will further
enhance the consumers viewing experience.
Samsung has launched Smart LED TVs that
surpasses all previous versions of its kind.

CHAPTER I. INTRODUCTION
Smart LED television enables the viewer to
receive information from the Internet while at
the
same
time
watching
conventional
television programming. It is an all-in-one
television that grants the user full HD 3Dviewing experience, motion sensor and built-in
camera.
In relation to this, the group seeks to find
out what additional innovations can be made
to further enhance this super television in
order to meet the present and future needs of
the consumers.

CHAPTER I. INTRODUCTION
After a thorough research consulting the opinions
of selected professionals and capable home owners
and considering different variables that may affect
the realization of the probable improvements the
group has arrived to HOME (Home Grid, Optimum
Viewing Experience, Maximum Entertainment and
Energy Efficient) Innovation.
HOME is the hope of all consumers to attain
maximum satisfaction. It brings every mans dream
of a perfect home to life, relaxed and free of worries.
Smart LED TV with the addition of Home Grid system
will allow its user to monitor plain tasks all around
the house. It will serve as the main control panel of
the house that alerts the consumer of the status of
different chores he/she is working with.

CHAPTER I. INTRODUCTION
Sensors are scattered to different home
appliances that will trigger its present state
flashing messages to the television monitor.
With this, the user will be relieved from the
pain of repetitive checking that disrupts
his/her viewing experience.
Another breakthrough that HOME offers is
its energy efficient feature that is made
possible through the addition of a lithium
rechargeable battery that extends the life of
the devices power source in case of
brownouts which will come very handy in
cases of emergencies and you needed to keep
updated with the news.

CHAPTER I. INTRODUCTION
II. Statement of the Problem
Specifically, the following questions were
answered in this study:
1. How familiar are Filipino households to Smart
LED televisions?
2. What are the advantages and disadvantages
they find in the product?
3. What features they wish to add to further
enhance the present specification of the
product?
4. With the addition of HOME Innovation to the
product does it satisfy the current needs of the
consumers?
5. Will they wish to purchase the product with
the addition of the HOME Innovation?

CHAPTER I. INTRODUCTION
III. Significance of the Study
After conducting this research, the group wishes to
find out how familiar and how much knowledge do the
Filipino households have regarding the rise of these
modern Smart LED televisions. Upon determining the
extent of their awareness, it is envisioned that the
group shall seek ways to sort out what improvements
are to be made to meet their needs.
And after figuring out what are the probable
innovations, it is the groups job to examine them to
prove their viability given the present technology, the
range of budget to be spent and other resources
needed to put the innovation to reality.
The gathered data can help in eliminating the
disadvantages they find in the product thus, improving
the future market sales of the product with the help of
the chosen innovation

CHAPTER II.
MATERIALS/METHODS
I. Methodology
In order to determine the extent of awareness of
Filipinos with regards to the Smart LED TVs a survey is
made outside the campus premises asking ten
professionals and capable home owners to answer
several questions to test their knowledge about the
product and most importantly to obtain information to
determine what further improvements they want to
make to suit their needs.
Among the questions asked in the survey sheet were
the following:
1. Are you familiar with the Smart LED Television? If
so, enumerate at least three features of the product
youre familiar with.
2. Do you think LED Smart Television could be useful to
your lifestyle? Why or why not? Enumerate at least
three reasons.

CHAPTER II.
MATERIALS/METHODS
3. Would it be reasonable to purchase a Smart
LED television given its present features?
4. If given a chance to enhance the product,
what innovations could you suggest? Give at
least three.
After gathering the survey results, the
group brainstormed and carefully studied the
viability of the given innovations under the
conditions of the available resources. And
upon deliberation, the group decided to make
a unique innovation satisfying the concerns of
the asked people arising with HOME (Home
Grid, Optimum Viewing Experience, Maximum
Entertainment
and
Energy
Efficient)
Innovation.

CHAPTER II.
MATERIALS/METHODS
Another survey has been issued to the
formerly asked respondents to test whether
they approve of the addition of the HOME
Innovation and whether their concerns have
been eliminated.
Specifically these questions were asked in the
survey form:
1. Do you approve of the addition of HOME
Innovation?
2. Does it answer your needs and concerns
regarding the previous model of the Smart LED
TV?
3. Given the chance, will you purchase a Smart
LED TV with the HOME Innovation?

CHAPTER IV. DISCUSSION

Based on the gathered data, it is proven
that the rise of the new age of modern
television known as the Smart LED Television
has long since been known by the Filipino
households
especially
those
who
are
professionals. By the enumerated features and
advantages, they have shown enough interest
to consider buying the product. But given the
enumerated disadvantages it also proves that
the product needs furthermore enhancement
to increase its sales.

CHAPTER IV. DISCUSSION

Among these disadvantages were Difficult
to Use and High Power Consuming. In
addition the respondents answers as to what
innovations they would like in the future the
one who casted the most votes is the Easier
Operating System which then matched to the
former disadvantage [Difficult to Use]. This
suggested that the group should focus on
eliminating these disadvantages and fulfill
their given innovation in the hopes of making
our own unique innovation that can possibly
increase the products sales.

CHAPTER IV. DISCUSSION

Thus, the group came up with the HOME
Innovation which features the Home Grid System
which solves the problem of Usage Difficulty
and the Rechargeable Battery which solves the
problem in High Power Consumption.
Since the idea of the Home Grid System aims
to interconnect certain home appliances with
the Samsung Smart LED Television it became
easier and more convenient to use. The system
wants to eliminate the worry of the one who
uses the television about his other concerns in
the house like his cooking tasks, the open lights,
and with his other electronic devices. Thus,
maximizing the kind of relaxation the users can
enjoy while watching the television.

CHAPTER IV. DISCUSSION

On the other hand, introducing a Lithium
Rechargeable Battery to the Smart LED TV
maximizes
the
productivity
of
the
energy
consumed while using the television. This can also
come in handy in times when there is a shortage of
electrical power which will supply the television for
it to be continuously used.
Charging up the battery while the television is
on use does not consume much additional
electricity than using the television alone. The
concern is on the battery life or how long the
battery would be able to store charge. Situations
like not unplugging the battery after it has been
100% charged will surely reduce the battery life,
and worse it will destroy the battery soon.

CHAPTER IV. DISCUSSION

Thus,
the
television
is
designed
to
automatically eject the battery after it has
reached its maximum charge, just like ejecting
a compact disk from a computer after you click
EJECT. This way, we would be able to store
enough energy in the battery and use it any
time while prolonging its life.
With the addition of the HOME Innovation, it
is assumed that the projected sales of
Samsung SMART LED Televisions will increase
given that 90% of the respondents got
satisfied and are willing to purchase the
product.
