DANIEL LIBESKIND

Daniel Libeskind left music to study architecture, receiving

his professional architectural degree in 1970 from the
Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New
York City.
DanielLibeskindis an international figure in architectural
practice and urbandesignwho hasdesigned numerous works
of art such as museums, concert halls, convention centers,
universities, housing, hotels, shopping centers and residential
work
Libeskind completed his first building at the age of 52

From Some of his work

Architectural features
His buildings stand out in shape and material: they are
anything but ordinary, and more than a few of his
creations have made people angry because they are so
different.
Linear texture is provided as a material finish to make
building more lively in day and night with a light effect

The building consists of sharp, angular, metallic

shards, with gravity-defying
Hestyleis heavily influenced by cubism an art form
in which one experiments with fitting unlike forms
together.
He also uses a lot of juxtaposition,
which is the process of placing things close
together.

Windows are used to break the geometry and dimension of the builtform, normally they
flow with the intersecting lines.

Modern Villa Libeskind

The residence strongly speaks his language

of design with drastic angles, strong
geometries and seamless transitions between
spaces.
Libeskinds villas will be able to be shipped to
almost any location in the world within
months, and will be assembled on site by a
team of experts within weeks.
Structure:Wood frame construction with
maximum thermal insulation and noise
reduction
Crafted from premium materials, the living
space meets the highest standards in design,
craftsmanship and sustainability.

Although the exterior is strong, the interior offers a softer and comfortable
atmosphere of living with its asymmetrical plan.
Acute and obtuse angles, horizontally and vertically slanted surfaces:
Full height windows continue to flood the interiors with sunlight and create a
transparent environment.

indoor and outdoor spaces

Upon entering, a grand room highlights the

geometric space and offers uninterrupted views
of the gardens.

The furniture combines functionality and

design with cutting edge technology, and
the lighting concept enhances the
buildings crystalline appearance
The economical lighting concept makes
use of energy-saving luminaires and
follows the precept Light without
lamps.

An unusual design element that offers both

privacy and sun protection is presented by a
large and elaborate metalwork ornament

The ceilings and support structures for both

interior and exterior walls are made of wood.

ENERGY CONCEPT

The villas exterior is clad in the same standing-seam zinc as Libeskinds Jewish Museum
in Berlin. The zinc, which is attached to the houses wooden frame, provides a solar
thermal system.
Electric power is generated from photovoltaic thin film and rain water is harvested from
the rooftop for use in the gardens irrigation system.

The integration of solar and geothermal energy generation allows a balanced, long-term
utilization of geothermal energy.
During winter, the heat pump collects heat
from the earth through the geothermal
collectors and uses it to heat the building
During summer, energy is transferred from
the solar installation to the ground. This
increases the source temperature; the ground
contains more energy during winter

CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

Denver Art Museum

Libeskinds design consists of geometric, titanium-clad angles, which reflect the nearby
Rocky Mountain peaks and rock crystals
The Hamilton Building rises from two
stories to four as it moves towards the
north.
A sharply cantilevered section of the
building juts across the street towards
the North Building above an enclosed
steel-and-glass bridge that links the
two structures.
The buildings exterior skin shields
from view a work of art in its own right;
the buildings structural steel skeleton.
