 Introduction
 Multimedia
 Multimedia is media and content that uses
a combination of different content forms.

 Categorization of multimedia
– Multimedia may be broadly divided into linear
and non-linear categories(cinema presentation,
computer game)
Multimedia presentations may be viewed
in person on stage, projected, transmitted, or
played locally with a media player.
Usage
 Multimedia finds its application in various areas
including, but not limited to, advertisements,
art, education, entertainment, engineering,
medicine.
Microsoft PowerPoint is a presentation program developed by
Microsoft. It is part of the Microsoft Office suite, and runs on
Microsoft Windows and Apple's Mac OS X computer operating
systems.
Versions for Microsoft Windows include:
1990 PowerPoint 2.0 for Windows 3.0
1992 PowerPoint 3.0 for Windows 3.1
1993 PowerPoint 4.0 (Office 4.x)
1995 PowerPoint for Windows 95 (version 7.0) — (Office 95)
1997 PowerPoint 97 — (Office 97)
1999 PowerPoint 2000 (version 9.0) — (Office 2000)
2001 PowerPoint 2002 (version 10) — (Office XP)
2003 PowerPoint 2003 (version 11) — (Office 2003)

2. Choose custom animation option for the
desired task pane
3. In the custom animation task pane click
on ‘add effect’ option

4. Choose any animation type given in the fly- out

5. Next select animation style from the fly- out
menu or click on more effects
6. We choose wipe option and selected the
from left direction
7. Now right- click the animation item in the
custom animation task pane and choose
Effects option from the resulting context
menu.
8. This gives a multi- tabbed dialog box .click the Text
Animation tab and from the GROUP TEXT dropdown list
choose any of the options.
9. You can set the playing time by choosing Automatically
After check box and In Reverse Order option will play
the text animation reversed.
10. Click the Effect tab and from the Animate Text drop
down list choose any of the options.

11. click ok to apply and save your presentation

•Is tedious than other professional animation

programs
•Excessive use of effects degrades the slide show
performance.
•Introduction of macro security disabled the VBA or
macro code by default

Menu Bar Standard Toolbar Formatting Toolbar

• In PowerPoint 2003, different functions within

PowerPoint are accessed through the Menu Bar,
Standard Toolbar, and the Formatting Toolbar

located within tabs on a Menu bar called the Ribbon

 Shape Effects

• The Illustration Group: Inserts images and graphics. It

– Photo Album: Creates a Photo sideshow from your favorite images.
You may also customize the show with music, text, transitions or
any of the other features available in PowerPoint. This is a New
Feature.
– Shapes: Replaces the AutoShapes Menu on the Drawing Toolbar.
Several new shapes have been added to this Menu
 The Picture Tools Tab

• The Picture Tools Tab replaces the Picture Toolbar in

PowerPoint 2003.
– The Adjust Group: Edits images brightness, contrast, color, image
quality, replaces images, or resets image back to original settings
– The Picture Styles Group: Adds frames, effects, shadows and
shapes to an image. This is a New Feature.
– The Arrange Group: Formats images that are imbedded within text.
– The Size Group: Edits an images size, and allows an image to be
cropped
