A Little of history..
The death of criminals and political opponents has been used by
some companies at a time in its history, both to punish crime and to
suppress political dissent.
Most Latin American countries have abolished the death penalty,
while in countries like the United States, Guatemala and most
Caribbean states is still applied. In Asia the death penalty is allowed
in democracies such as Japan and India. In Africa, still used in
Botswana and Zambia
Justice.
Justice, according to Ulpian (important in the history of law philosopher), is
the art of giving each one what belongs to him.
Big Crimes.
In many countries where the death penalty still applies, is used as a
punishment for crimes of murder, espionage, treason, or as part of military
law. In some countries also applies to punish sexual crimes, such being
considered adultery or sodomy.
The Fails of the law
Critics argue that the death penalty doesnt reduce crime further than life
imprisonment, are worse than the crime and it is a discrimination against
minorities and the poor who cant have enough resources in the legal
system.
It is the only penalty that gives some comfort or satisfaction to the relatives
of those killed by the one that will be executed.
Capital punishment is CHEAPER to keep locked up for life the guilty person, at
the expense of society, victim of his crimes.
