Local Problems

Paula Prez, Juan Tonche

Clean Neighborhoods
Contains a range of legislative measures
to improve the quality of the local
environment by giving district councils
additional powers to deal with litter, flyposting and graffiti, dogs, noise, statutory
nuisance, nuisance alleyways, abandoned
and nuisance vehicles and abandoned
shopping trolleys

Environmental Liability
Damage that significantly adversely
affects the ecological, chemical and/or
quantitative status and/or ecological
potential of waters falling within the scope
of the water framework directive.

Noise
Environmental noise arising from industry, road, rail and air traffic is
an inevitable consequence of a mature and vibrant society, but it is
regarded by some to be an unwelcome feature of everyday life.
Noise is subjective and different people react to it in different ways.
What can cause annoyance to some people may be barely noticeable
to others. Noise can have the effect of causing people to feel
annoyed simply because the noise is audible. As the noise level
increases it can interrupt conversation, disturb sleep and, in extreme
conditions, may affect the physical well being of those affected.

Contaminated Land
At its worst, contaminated land may
present a hazard to potential users of the
land or to the environment. Although in
most cases the risks associated with living
on sites that have been previously used by
industry are low.

Environmental Justice
Environmental justice is the fair treatment
and meaningful involvement of all people
regardless of race, color, national origin, or
income with respect to the development,
implementation, and enforcement of
environmental laws, regulations, and
policies.

Environmental Dilapidation
to cause or allow (a building, automobile,
etc.) to fall into a state of disrepair, as by
misuse or neglect (often used passively):
The house had been dilapidated by
neglect.

Air Pollution
Jesus Jordan Correa

Air Pollution

Air pollution occurs when gases, dust

particles, fumes or odour are introduced into
the atmosphere in a way that makes it
harmful to humans, animals and plant.
The Atmosphere is blanket of air that
surrounds the world and protects it from the
intense heat of the sun and the low
temperatures of the night, allowing life to
exists normally.

Pollutants
They are substances that pollute the air, like nitrogen
oxides, carbon monoxides, hydrocarbons, etc.
Primary pollutants are gases or chemicals that are
pumped into the air and make it unclean.
Secondary pollutants are when pollutants are mixed
up in a chemical reaction, forming an even more
dangerous substance.

Causes and

Causes:
effects Burning of fossil fuels.
Agricultural activities.
Exhaust from
factories.
Mining operations.
Indoor air pollution.
Effects:
Respiratory and heart
problems.
Global warming.
Acid rain.
Depletion of ozone
layer.
