Method Of Sizing Bolted Joint Report Study

The occurrence of particular mode is
dependent on bolt type, joint geometry (width,
edge distance, laminate thickness, fastener
diameter) and laminate lay up. When the
joint is subjected to tension loading, the
bearing / bypass failure mode is called net
section failure whilst when the joint is
subjected to compressing load, the failure
mode is called off set compression failure.
The following are the failure modes that were
discuss in the report:
Bearing / bypass failure
Bearing failure
Bolt failure (Static & Fatigue)
Bolt tension and bolt pull through failure
Bolt shear and tension loading interaction

Conclusion
Throughout the industrial training, the work that have done and the experienced had
gained is invaluable as it gives a general idea on how aerospace industries works
especially in Malaysia.
This will give helpful information after graduation in search for suitable work
environment.
During the training, exposure on structure engineering shows how important it is
towards the aerospace manufacturing.
Not to forget, professionalism that have been implemented during working helps to
create awareness which is professionalism is important in creating more conducive
working environment.
