 on an altar


 2 : something offered in sacrifice



 3 : destruction or surrender of something for the

 sake of something else

 Snobby You …
• Oh Paris!
 Can you think of why this particular
famous person is “famous” for?
 Most of what comes to mind is basically
“me-ism”
“Me-ism” is what turns you into a snobby

person, someone that can not technically

see beyond her own or his own nose. These
people tend to think of them being a gift
for humanity, so narcisistic that they
believe they are the best thing after
sliced bread. ( la mama de Tarzan, La Ultima
Coca-Cola en el Desierto, etc)
She calls herself a model, an actress, an

etrepenour…have you ever seen her do any

of the above mentioned? If you have, has
she done it well? Don’t think so…Other
than posing around for pics and spend her
family’s money, have not seen much of her
skills out there

 Christianity Over Christ
• Much of Christianity is much like this person that we just
talked about…
• How does this relate to church?
– for instance the African American Church thinks they have
it all when it comes to worship, the European American
Church has it all when it comes to theology. We think of
ideas bout how to include music, food, dress codes and
everything else in our churches, anything that identifies
us as a culture has to get mixed , has to get mixed with
our faith.
• Just like Paris Hilton chose her looks over her “abilities”
we wind up choosing Christianity over Christ…
• We have created different levels, tones, flavors of the same
thing and symply consume what we like the most, what goes
better with our “culture”

• Shadows are just an outline of the real
object.

all this gives us a sense of what
Christ is, but they are not Him!
• we are more comfortable with the system
we have created to worship him than
with worship him itself!


• Because of cultural preference we have
become like Paris, chosing the
means over what the objective is.

door to other cultures…

still segregated by race. Only 5.4% churches are racially

integrated
