HOW TO

SET UP A
TRIPOD
Lauren, Tash, Gina

Step 1

Step 1
To begin setting up the tripod we held the bag
carefully and start to unzip the bag from top to
bottom. After we have unzipped the bag all the way
we will began to get the tripod out of the bag and
turn it back the right way round as it goes into the
bag upside down. These images have shown that we
are able to successfully take the tripod out of the
bag without damaging it. We placed the bag to the
side out of the way so that we wouldnt trip over it.

Step 2
After the tripod is out of the bag we began to open
the legs one by one so that they are standing up
securely on the floor. We did this while holding the
top of the tripod so that it doesnt fall over when we
pull the legs out. We pressed down on the middle
part of the tripod on the floor to make sure that it
was flat.

Step 3
We then unclipped the 3 clips on each individual leg
so that we were then able to adjust the height of the
tripod to get it to eye-level as if it was for an
interview. We did this and also adjusted the middle
to make sure that when the camera was fixed to the
tripod it would be straight and not wonky. We also
tightened the tilting pole so that it would move all of
the directions that we wanted it to when filming

Step 4
To attach the camera to the tripod we pressed the
red button on the side of the tripod so we could slide
the middle part off and screw the camera to it
securely. After we made sure that the camera was
tightly fixed onto it we slid the slip on back onto the
tripod and released the red button. To make sure that
the camera doesnt fall of the tripod or slide around
when filming, we tighted it with the screw on the
side to make it secure.

Step 5
Once we had secured the camera onto the tripod, we
realized that the tripod was too high for an eye-levelshot as it had a slight tilt looking down onto the
individual. We also looked at the spirit level and
found that it was at an angle which meant that we
needed to adjust the tripod again. This was us
observing the recording equipment before filming so
we knew that it was correctly placed.

Step 6
Step 6 was where we re-adjusted the tripod legs to that
they were at the correct height and the spirit level was
in the middle of the circle. By having the spirit level in
the circle we know that our equipment is steady and
straight because it shows that its balanced enough.
We are then able to start filming because our tripod has
been set up correctly for the best quality recordings.
