perform with many people perform in a few seconds or minutes with one
person.
Before the transistor, computers were built mechanically.
Computers were much more fragile and required constant maintenance.
Computer careers were very different from what they are today.

A memory
A calculator for arithmetic

It used to use:
Parallel processing
Regenerative memory
Computing functions

It used a type of altered cathode ray tube for a computer monitor

The computer had:

55 feet long and 8 feet high.
760,000 separate pieces.
Five-ton of weight.

The Transistor
Developed by John Bardeen in 1948
Although not a computer itself, it greatly assisted in their evolution by:

Making them more stable

electronically.
Cheaper to produce.

Computer Mouse and

Windows
Developed by Douglas Engelbart In 1964, He created the mouse to use with
the first graphical user interface (Windows)
