3.High acceleration at high speeds as well as at
cornering.
4.Cost must be low.
5.Fuel efficiency must be good.

WHY KTM 390 ??


ACCELERATION -: As per track analysis data of f

sae 70% of track will be covered cornering and 30%


straight track so we want high acceleration after
corners and also want high response in
accelerating and braking conditions.
ECONOMICAL-: It Cost Rs. 80,000
EFFICIENCY:- It Is Comparably too efficient
(comparison chart is shown below).

Engine = KTM DUKE 390cc.
Single cylinder four stroke engine
Torque = 35N-m (Maximum) at 7250 rpm.
Power = 32KW (Max) at 9500 rpm.
Bore/stroke = 89mm x 60mm
Engine weight = 36 kg.

RESULTS ON ENGINE

TYRE SELECTION
On the basis of weight, force and speed analysis the tyre

has been selected of having specifications as 145/70/R-12


It concluded that ,the acceleration of the vehicle is depend
upon the width of the tyre.
Where,
145 - Denotes width of the tyre.
70 aspect ratio
R diameter of the rim(in inches)

TYRE SELECTION CRITERIA


Tyre selection is based on three major factors:

1. Friction between vehicle tyre and track.


2. Power available from engine.
3.Total weight of the vehicle.
4.Acceleration available while turning and
braking.

ENGINE SELECTION AND POWER


TRANSMISSION APPROACH
1.Estimated weight of our vehicle is 300 kg.
2.We select the tyre as per speed requirement of
specification 145/70/R-12.
3. Torque and force required for rear sprocket to
drive
both wheels(rear)
F = mg
F = 0.9x270x9.81 ; F =2383.83 N

Now,

Force Requirement To Drive A Wheel


F = 1191.915N
Now, Torque Requirement to Drive The Wheel
T = Fx r
T = 1191.915x0.2539
T = 302.62N-m
Similarly,
T =302.62N-m
Now, total Torque Required To Drive The Rear Sprocket
T = 605.25 605N-m
Now, Select The Engine And Power Drive To Generate This

POWER TRAIN
Available torque from the engine is 37.9 N-m, which is to be converted

to 605 N-m.
So we designed compound chain drive sprocket differential
mechanism.
Now Define The Complete Sprocket Drive (Compound).
1. Power Sprocket No. of teeth = 15
2.Compound Sprocket
(a) Bigger Sprocket Teeth = 52
(b) Smaller Sprocket Teeth = 15
3.Final Rear Sprocket = 52
4.Diameter of the sprocket =165.33mm

INNOVATIONS
ECU REMAPPING /ECU TUNING /CHIP TUNING.
ECU is Engine control unit which is an ELECTRONIC CONTROL
UNIT. As its name tells you it is the brain of modern day cars, as it
controls almost everything on our car.
2. It is basically use to increase THE PERFORMANCE OF THE CAR.
3. It directly affects the sensors like .TPS - Throttle Position Sensor
.IAT - Intake Air Temperature Sensor
.MAP - Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor
.MAF - Mass Airflow Sensor
.Fuel Temperature Sensor
.Vehicle Speed Sensor

MICSLLENEOUS CHANGES
DIFFERENTIAL : we use differential of E-

rickshaw. To reduce the overall weight of our car.


ALIGNMENT : according to aerodynamics, most of
the air with high velocity is passes through upper
part of rear hoop. So we change the alignment of
the air cleaner.
