classroom should be seen as an avenue to
help them important value in life.

be seen as their role models and situation
that show motivations and outcome of
behaviour.

The selected books should be able to instill

moral values and respecting the rights of

Help broaden the learners understanding of

with more contemporary ones.

NOTES

There are a few aspects that teachers need to consider to select materials. The
aspects are cultural content or suitability and moral values. Teacher also need
to consider other aspects that will help teachers to select suitable materials.
Cultural Content / suitability
Teachers need to consider the suitability of materials selected for the literature
classroom. It should be interesting enough to motivate them and based on
their prior knowledge. The content should be culturally familiar to the students
with the simple language so that they can easily understand what they have
read.
Moral Values
Moral values are actually integrated in all subjects across the curriculum.
Literature books also should be selected based on the moral values. This, will
help them to learn the important values in life. Selected characters should be
seen as their role models and the situations must motivate the behavior and
outcomes of those behaviors.
