SYSTEMS APPROACH
The process of working of 4Ms in an integrated
manner with their function specified and interrelation
well defined such an approach is called system
approach.

SYSTEM
According to Jalaluddin
- system is a dynamic,
complex, integrated whole consisting of a self-regulating
pattern of interrelated & interdependent elements
organized to achieve predetermined & specified
objectives.

TYPES OF SYSTEM

MAN-MADE SYSTEM

System have been classified by biologist into types :

(1) Open system

(2) Closed system

PARAMETERS OF A SYSTEM
Input : Efforts m ade to realize the objectives
Process : What goes on in a system Environmental
Environmental Context : Include all those conditions , factors , constraints related with the physical and the social environm ent in w itch the system operates
Output : Refer what comes out / products of system

SYSTEM APPROACH IN EDUCATION

Step in application of system approach to education:

Identification of the problem

Defining goals and objectives
Specification of objectives in behavioral turns
Analysing of task involved in achieving the objectives
Analysing the inputs and constraints of the system in
context with the stipulated objectives
Determining functions related to the achievement of
goals-man and material management
Choosing the appropriate mode and methods of
transaction of planned objectives and content

Assigning roles for teachers, students etc

Identification of solution to problem
Operation or implementation of programme
Testing and evaluating in terms of students
perfomance vis a vis planned objectives
Revision and modification based on evaluation
Implementation on a large scale
Evaluation revising and refining to improve
efficiency of system

SYSTEM APPROACH TO
CURRICULUM DESIGN IN
EDUCATION

Consider target population characteristics & topic area

Estimate relevant existing skills & knowledge of learners
Formulae objective / learning outcomes
Select appropriate instructional method
Operant course or curriculum

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCESS AS A
SYSTEM
Instructional process is a system consisting of certain
interactive & inter-related elements operating in a systematic
& regulated manner in order to achieve stipulated instructional
objectives
Six steps instructional process according to Jalaluddin

Formation of objectives
Pre-assement of students entry behavior
Design & development of the system
Operation or implementation phase
Evaluation of outcomes
Improvement of the system

ADVANTAGES OF SYSTEM
APPROACH IN EDUCATION
It helps in building a frame work / blueprint for the
educational system.
Helps in effectively improving the teaching-learning
Help for optimum utilization of man & material in the
educational process
Helps in having a systematic educational planning in term of
long range goals & specific short range objectives

It helps for integrating technological advances into education

Helps to improving the examination & evaluation process
Helps in the development of cognitive & affective domains by
coordinating curricular & co-curricular activities
Helps in the improvement of quality of all aspects of
educational process
It act as a means to improve design & control the non formal
& adult education & teachers education programs

CONCLUTION
System approach is a relatively new field that has emerged
in the education sector. It has been introduced in the field of
education as a strategy to manage, control & improve the
process and product of education.
System approach in education can be designed as the
planned and integrated manner of material, media, machine,
& men with their functions& interrelations well specified ,
so as to achieve well defined educational objectives.
