Tata Nano - world's cheapest new car is unveile

Tata Motors, One of

the India's Biggest Car
Companies recently
launched their long
awaited one lakh rupee
car in India with the
name "Tata Nano".

With the launch of

Tata Nano, it became
the world's cheapest
car. The critics initially
derided the concept
mainly on the basis of
the price
Controversies Involved

Controversies also arose about Tata's planned manufacturing unit

for the car in Singur, West Bengal.
The state government of West Bengal has allocated 997 acres
(4.03 km²) to Tata Motors.
The construction of the car factory
on that tract of land required
fertile agricultural land and the
expropriation and eviction of 15,000
peasants and agricultural workers.

The protest for the project became

active by september 2008.

The activists at Singur said that

they would call off their protest only
if the State Govt. handed back about
400 acres of land to farmers.
Further the addition was made by Mamata
Banerjiee, the head of the main opposition-
Trinamool Congress Party, called for an
indefinite siege of the factory.

This move derailed nano project at West

Bengal.
SANAND, AHMEDABAD : THE
FINAL DESTINANTION FOR
NANO
The company received an overwhelming
support from several states for relocating
the plant, and after an extensive
examination of various sites, the company
concluded that the Sanand, Gujarat was the
perfect place to relocate the nano mother
plant.

It was the mid of October, 2008, Ratan

Tata, Chairman Tata motors decided to
shift the nano project from Singur, West
Bengal to Sanand, Ahmedabad.
