In order to determine the best design for a wind deflector,

water tunnel testing was conducted on several deflector
shapes. A convex deflector positioned behind the front
passenger head restraints was the most effective design for
redirecting the fluid flow over the passenger cabin.

outsourcing production would be a cost efficient option. OEM
Outsourcing offers manufacturing that includes injection
molding and could create the dWINDle wind deflector for
$175 per unit.

Isometric view of wind deflector model created in SolidWorks

The dWINDle wind deflector mimics the shape of an NACA

2415 airfoil wing. The amount of lift the wind deflector will
experience is negligible in comparison to the weight of the
car. The aerodynamic design will enable wind deflection
while generating an insignificant amount of drag.
