1. Pretend play (main olok-olok/symbolic play) :
Penyelidikan telah membuktikan pretend play
mengembangkan kebolehan intelek kanak-kanak.
Apabila kanak-kanak menukar objek dan aksi sebagai
simbolik kepada sesuatu bentuk yang lain ini
memerlukan kanak-kanak memproses maklumat dalam
mindanya :
membuat representasi minda
menggunakan bahasa reseptif dan expresif,
menggunakan dialog interaktif dan negotition (pemujukan),
Memain/melakonkan peranan (role taking)
Membina skrip untuk berkomunikasi, dan
Merekacipta (improvisation) walau pun sesuatu itu tidak ada
Berimaginatif, mereka-reka dalam minda

Pretense Play dan Perkembangan kognitif


Many cognitive strategies are exhibited during pretense
play: joint planning, negotiation, problem solving, and goal
seeking (Nichols & Stich, 2000) there is a separate
mental workspace operating during pretense play.
Pretense play engages many areas of the brain because it
involves emotion, cognition, language and sensorimotor
actions (Bergin & Coscia, 2001)
