What is AHOT (RPL)?

11 Accreditation of Prior Learning
The student has a right to request recognition and
accreditation of studies and prior learning from
the Student Advisor in learning outcomes achieved
by formal education and, in learning outcomes
achieved by other than formal education, from
the teacher responsible for the study module or
course. The student is responsible for
documentation of his/her studies and prior learning
and for providing the information of these.

AHOT (RPL)

The main goal of identifying and recognising prior

learning is to offer students in Diak's bachelor's
and master's programmes an opportunity to make
use of their previous learning in their degreeoriented studies regardless of how, when and
where they obtained this learning. The basis
for recognition is equivalence, i.e. students'
learning is compared to the learning objectives in
Diak's curricula.

AHOT Formal Education

Learning outcomes achieved by formal
education will be identified and recognized by the Study
Advisor.
At the beginning of studies, to be dealt with during the
drafting of your personal study plan (PSP), you must
supply the study advisor with the documents that
evidence your learning and which you intend to use to
apply for the recognition of your prior learning (e.g.
certificates, study register extract, and, if necessary,
contents and objectives descriptions of the completed
studies)

Other than formal education

Learning outcomes achieved by other than formal
education will be identified and recognized by the
teacher responsible for the study unit or module.
AHOT application/portfolio

AHOT for Elective Studies

- Studies at the university level
- Courses at the Open University
- Work experience in the Social Field
(one year, full time => 5 cr)
- Voluntary work experience
- Study advisor will make the decision, no deadline

When?
You must supply your application, learning outcomes
portfolio and the appendixes (learning descriptions,
documents, certificates and copies of written
achievements, products or media materials) to the
teacher responsible for the study module/unit; in
the case of elective studies, you must supply these
materials to the study advisor.
This should take place in January for studies
beginning the next fall, and in August for studies
beginning the next spring.
