Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) born in


Wisconsin
Designed hundreds of famous
structures worldwide
1991 the greatest American architect of
all time (by the American Institute of
Architects)

Fallingwater was designed for the Kaufmann family in


1935
Completed in 1939 and instantly became famous
1991 Architectural Record published a list of the 100
hundred most important buildings of the previous century
which included 12 of Wrights masterpieces (Fallingwater)
2001 A.I.A. selected their top 10 favourite buildings of the
twenties century topped by Fallingwater

Interpretation of
horizontal vs. vertical & inside vs. outside
