A Proposed District

Hospital

Introduction
In the present, hospital plays a large role on the
health of every people. Hospital is where people
seek medical treatment and support. The role of
district hospitals in the community clarifies at the
first level as the component of district health
systems that supports the health activities of the
district community, especially primary health care
activities. Such hospitals can provide a wideranging support for patient referral as well as
support for various technical, administrative and
education/training in the district.

Background of Study
The study focuses on designing a District
hospital in 2nd district in the province of Quezon.
District hospital is a type of hospital where it is
designed and built to serve the people of a
certain district of a province. The facility will
serve the people of the 2nd district with a
population of 646,838 inhabitants. The project
will be designed according to the laws and
policies of the Philippines in terms of health care
system.

Statement of the Problem


The study aims to upgrade/update old health
care facilities, outdated medical equipment and
technological insufficiency in creating a
sustainable facility which reduces negative
impact to the environment. Both public and
private hospitals in the 2nd district also lacks in
creating a pleasant environment for the patients
which appears that the ultimate aim to create a
healing environment is not given due attention by
healthcare designers.

Objective
General Objective
The aim of this study is to design a green and sustainable
hospital with an improved physical environment for the
patients to experience. The hospital should be able to
minimize environmental impact to the environment thus
providing good service to the people of the district.

Objective
To be able to provide updated equipment and service to
every patients.
Upgrading the standards of the hospital through the
implementation of a friendly environment for the visitors
and patients.
Provide an effective, affordable, health care service for a
defined population, with their full participation, in
cooperation with agencies in the district that have similar
concerns.
Provide the patients optimum care through best
equipment available and through proper design of the
hospital.

Objective
To design an eco-friendly hospital that uses
renewable energy.
Use solar panels for power production in the
hospital and its facilities.
Implement rainwater collection and
treatment for water supply in the hospital.
Use daylighting to minimize energy
consumption in the facility during the day.

Objective
To create a hospital with a friendly
environment for the patients and visitors.
Integrate a luminous environment in the
hospital for faster healing of the patients.
Implement visual comfort by using glass
walls for access to view in sky and
outside surroundings.
Use of pastel color scheme to provide
satisfaction or comfort for the patients,

Methodology(Qualitative)
Site environment is important, all aspects from
location to the site should be considered. This is
the first step a researcher should conduct; The
researcher will visit the site to uphold various
researches regarding the population, site
considerations, advantage and disadvantages,
zoning alteration and the variation of the
proposal needs. This method was chosen because
it is said to be an effective way of studying before
planning a sustainable and competitive facility
that would maintain the development of the

Scope and Limitation

This research will focus in developing an effective and


efficient design solutions that will be both sustainable
and patient friendly that will promote the Filipinos
hospitality through a patient friendly hospital.

Significance of the Study


The study aims to resolve the lack of proper
health care facilities, outdated medical
equipment and technological insufficiency in
creating a sustainable facility which reduces
negative impact to the environment and
providing optimum service to the patient.
The study will also focus on designing a visual
and environment friendly hospital for the patients
and visitors which appears that the ultimate aim
to create a healing environment is not given due
attention by healthcare designers. The structure
