The skyline/strapline is the text

under the masthead that draws

the readers attention,
explaining the genre of the
magazine and targeting the
chosen audience in this case
the younger generation.

The headline is the biggest text

on the page, it is in a different
colour and a different font, it
gives the article a title. Also the
name Hi-Pitch is a play on words
as I spelt Hi for hello to create a
pug and the pitch meaning vocal
range fits the genre of the
magazine.
The main images use of direct
address is aiming to achieve a
relationship with the
reader/target audience. The main
image of the cover stars body
language relates to the feature
article as the cover star was
coming out the dark about a bad
experience in her life, this
reflects on the main image.
The sell lines are bright and
stand out which is conventional ,
this is where the reader will first
look therefore the lines are short
and snappy they get to the point
of the important features using
informal language, which draws
in the target audience . It also
gives an insight of what's in store
throughout the rest of the
magazine.

The header is a list of names of the

other celebrities that are mentioned in
the magazine.

More sell lines on this side to

advertise my other articles. Again
they are bright and use informal
language which is a typical
convention.
I used a pug to advertise the
competition which is a standard
convention of usual magazines. It
is short and sweet using informal
language.
The sweet spot advertises the
feature article to the readers, it is
the main focus of the magazine. I
challenged a media convention and
placed mine towards the bottom
middle of the page whereas usually
it would be on the left where I
placed my sell lines. I thought my
sweet spot would look better where
I placed it, as it was directly under
my main image. The truth and
secrets heading stands out and
entices the reader to want to read
inside to find out the top gossip on
the favourite celeb.

Colour palette- I chose

orange, black, white and
grey as it was similar
colours to the costume of
the cover star and my
main image. It also gave
an elegant look to the
magazine which would
attract the mature side of
the younger generation as
that was my target
audience.

As this is the magazines

contents page, there are
many articles listed that
may be personally
attractive to individuals
for example the social
media section appeals to
the younger generation in
which the magazine is
ideally meaning to target.
Also the posters section,
stereotypically younger
readers will want the
posters from the
magazine.

This issue uses the date reasonably small

as it is not the main focus and it shouldnt
be drawn to by the audience.

The central image

reflects on the cover
story/main article, it
is bold but very
sophisticated and
elegant, it creates a
statement through
direct address. It
also steers away
from the
stereotypical sexy
long shot images
used on contents
pages, it shows the
audience its better
to be beautiful
rather than sexy
through a positive
female role model.

I included features
such as a gig
guide and this
months album
releases to draw
in my target
audience.

The pull quote Im

just a normal girl is
a play on words as
the word normal is in
different colours.

This paragraph gives an insight to the article

on the following page, it draws the reader by
using informal language so they want to carry
on reading and feel at ease

Pull quotes and text grabs are used.

They are bigger than the actual
article, in a different colour font so
they stand out. They are placed
throughout the article

Just like a newspaper I

wrote my article in
columns and typically
there are 3-4 columns in
a feature article, in mine
I used 3.

A typical convention of a feature

article is to place the image of the
cover star on the left, I followed this
convention as the image is the first
thing I want the reader to look at.

Anchorage is the text underneath

the image which tells us about the
image

I used a drop capital to

start the article in a
different colour to the
rest of the text but also
to fit the colour scheme.
This is a typical
convention of a feature
article that I portrayed.

My magazine as a whole is typically conventional, although I have challenged minor

conventions, such as where I placed my sweet spot on my front cover. I did this with
good intentions as it looked more professional. The main challenge that I took out was
to positively connote my cover star to present a positive role model. My cover star is
beautiful and is wearing sophisticated clothing. She is successful and remains
approachable, other music magazines aimed at students the cover stars are portrayed
as sexy, loud and out going in a negative way, such as wearing little clothing - like a
bikini. My contents and feature article pages are conventional to a typical media
magazine.

How did you attract/address your audience?

I attracted my audience by using a bright colour scheme and an attractive cover star, I
represented my cover star as a very popular teen within the music industry that was
coming out of a dark period in her career to discuss her life with her fans and the
public. This would draw the young female generation to buy the magazine as they are
usually inspired by current affairs and female artists. I used alliteration in one of my
features Gig Guide which included the 2016s coming up concerts and gigs which
would draw in potential audience as they would be interested in whats going on in the
new year and whats hot to see. I also used a pug on my front cover to advertise my
competition and a skyline using alliteration to draw in audience The power pop
publication for the new generation is inspiring to potential audience it also justifies the
genre of the magazine.

How does your media project represent

particular social groups?
My media project is a Music magazine aimed at the younger generation who are in to
pop music. I included recent album releases because the younger generation are
interested in knowing when their favourite artists recent albums are coming out. I
included a competition with the chance to win very exclusive tickets to see my cover
star Sophie in concert that are already sold out. The younger generation would be
interested in this as Sophie is a teenager trying to make it in the music world. My cover
star is attractive and young and is a positive role model. This attracts a potential
audience. Direct address is used within the photo to draw in the reader, as the picture is
the first thing that makes the audience want to buy the magazine.

What kind of institution might distribute

your media product and why?
My magazine would be produced by a company such as IPC Media, who publish music
magazines such as NME, Now, TV weekly and Country life. Currently IPC do not
distribute a music magazine aimed at the younger generation which is the gap in the
market that my magazine attempts to profile. IPC will like my magazine because it will
bring in a different audience that will increase their profit. My magazine will also be
distributed in stores that are easy accessible by my target audience e.g. supermarkets
like Tesco's or music shops as the genre of my magazine is music. Parents of children
may want to purchase the magazine to see what their children are looking into as the
younger generation often use media magazines to look for role models.

Above is a small/short profile on the typical audience who will buy my
magazine, as I the features and conventions I used targeted the younger
female generation. Although this profile is typically my audience other
members of the public will buy my magazine but only small figures, the
percentages are above in a table that I created.

demonstrating the basics I am now comfortable with using the programme and can
crop out backgrounds of images I took, enhance the lighting and correct any minor
imperfections. I also created my magazine on InDesign which I can use with confidence
after watching online tutorials when creating my preliminary task. I also learned how to
use a 700D canon eos camera and instructed a small photo-shoot with a backdrop.
Flash and lights to have a more professional photo inside my magazine. I have also
learned key terms and terminology such as the sweet spot which advertises features
within the magazine, a typical convention is to place the sweet spot on the left because

do you feel you have learnt?

Looking back on my preliminary task I have learned and targeted minor mistakes I
made such as dark on dark colour scheme and using black and white instead of brighter
colours that represent happy connotations. I have used a smaller pug as the one in my
preliminary task took up most of the room of the front page. My colour scheme of my
preliminary task wasnt very appealing to my target audience it gave a very older feel.
During my preliminary task I learned many new skills such as learning how to use
InDesign the software that I created both my magazines on. On my primary task the
images I used where straight from the camera, they were not edited which didnt look
very professional when looking at the final product. Therefore I took this mistake to then
conduct a photo-shoot with a white backdrop where I then later photshopped the
images to suit the preferences of my target audience.
