Jamaica, a Caribbean island nation, has a lush


topography of mountains, rainforests and reef-lined
beaches. Many of its all-inclusive resorts are clustered in
vibrant Montego Bay, with its British colonial
architecture, and Negril, renowned for diving and
snorkelling. Jamaica is famed as the birthplace of
reggae, and its capital Kingston is home to the Bob
Marley Museum, dedicated to the citys most famous
son.

Flag and national anthem of Jamaica

Theflag ofJamaicawas adopted on August 6, 1962, the original


Jamaican Independence Day, the country having gained
independence from the British-protectedFederation of the West
Indies. The flag consists of a goldsaltire, which divides the flag
into four sections: two of them green (top and bottom) and two
black (hoist and fly).

"Jamaica, Land We Love" is the officialnational anthemof


Jamaica, adopted in July 1962. The anthem was chosen after a
competition from September 1961 until 31 March 1962, in which,
the lyrics of the national anthem were selected by Jamaica's
Houses of Parliament. When Jamaica was granted independence
on 6 August 1962, "Jamaica, Land We Love" continued to be
officially used as the national anthem.
