When do we use

Present Simple?

Habits
We use the Present Simple to talk
about things we do all of the time.
Examples:

I get the bus at 7:00 every morning.


Sam brushes his teeth before he goes
to bed.

Things that are always true


We use the Present Simple to talk
about things that are always true.

The sky is blue.


The Earth goes round the Sun.
Tigers are big cats.

We often use Present Simple with:


Frequency Adverbs such as always
(100%), usually (90%), often (70%) ,
sometimes (50%), never (0%).
Ex. She often studies on Saturday
morning.
Time expressions such as once a
day, twice a week, every year, all the
time.
Ex. You go to the disco twice a week.
