duty, and to this data only

Introduction: ''User Rights' attribution

This document will help you to define the proper

'User Rights' or permissions in your hotel
A 'User Right' aims at enabling a specified user to
perform a precise action
Opera proposes more than 1000 different rights!
To simplify their attribution, we gathered them by
type of operational functions, in so-called 'User
Groups'

''User Rights' are under your responsibility

The attribution of 'User Rights' to 'User Groups' is under
the responsibility of the Hotel Management
User login is specific per user, thus each staff member is
to have a personal login and password
Ensure Password Expiration Days set on and not greater
than 90
Ensure that user passwords are at least 7 characters in
length
Ensure that user passwords include at least 3 of the
following 4 characters types: (1) lower case letters, (2)
upper case letters, (3) numbers, (4) symbols
(It cannot be the same than the login and must be different from
the
last
4 used passwords)

General case

The attribution is name specific with creation of a login

and a password for every user Opera co-worker

Logins must all be created according to the same naming

convention : XXXXFFLLL (where XXXX = TARS hotel code,
FF = First 2
characters of the first name and LLL = First 3 characters
of the last name)
The password is at least 7 characters long and has to
contain 1 special character and 1 figure
He cannot be the same that the login nor one of the last
4 used
passwords

Particular cases

In case you would have in your hotel another

collaborator with identical logins, invert name and first
name for one of them (e.g XXXXLLLFF ; where XXXX = TARS hotel
code, FF = First 2 characters of the first name and LLL = First 3 characters of the lastName).

This exception can be extended to XXXXFFLLLLLLLL

(full last name) if necessary in specific countries
o This setup must be homogeneous in your hotel
o It must be possible to easily identify a user by his/her login code

In case of a longer absence of a collaborator or if you

transfer his duties to one of his colleagues, you may
temporarily attach to the login, the needed 'User
Group'
For new or departing collaborators, 'User Rights'
must be updated accordingly!

Opera 'User Groups'

The 'User Groups' have been organized following main

operational functions in the hotel
A user can thus be attributed several 'User Groups' if
needed, according to his/her duties
A Front Desk clerk in a larger hotel may have his login
attached to Reception, while in a smaller hotel he/she
may have access to the 'User Groups' : Reception +
Cashier + Night + Res_ind
