ABSTRACT
PV is a technology that converts the energy from sunlight into electrical
energy.
PV system becomes an important renewable energy source due to its
pollution-free and inexhaustible nature.
With the focus on greener sources of power, PV has become an important
source of power for a wide range of applications.
Output power of the PV system is still low, hence the continuous hard work is
taken to develop the techniques for extracting maximum power and reduced
cost factor.
An MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) is a technique that grid
connected inverters, solar battery chargers and similar devices use to get the
maximum possible power from one or more photovoltaic module.
A number of algorithms have been proposed to find the maximum power point
tracking (MPPT) for photovoltaic system.

INTRODUCTION
Due to the rapid depletion of conventional energy resources, the significance of
solar energy has been raising as replaceable energy resources in last few
years.
India is the fifth largest producer and end user of electricity in the world &
demand is expected to increase from 900 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) to 1,400
billion kWh by March 2017.
India is in a state of recurrent energy lack with a demand-supply gap of almost
12% of the total energy demand.
To meet this demand, Solar is the only renewable alternative energy source with
the fundamental capability to satisfy the energy needs of India.
According to MNRE, total solar installed capacity in the country till 2014 is
about 2631.9 MW which is 945 MW more than the previous year.
JNNSM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission)have a mission
to install 20 GW solar PV plant by 2022.

MOTIVATION OF PROJECT
To meet the increasing energy demand, shortage and environmental impacts of
conventional energy sources, more attention has been given to utilize the
renewable energy.
To improve the conversion efficiency of the PV System, a technique is
adopted which is known as Maximum power point tracking. MPPT make the
PV system to operate at its maximum power.
OBJECTIVE
According to the necessity of the maximum power output of SPVA (Solar
photovoltaic array ), the project has following main objectives:
To study the detailed concept of Solar Photovoltaic system.
To study the detailed concept of MPPT system and its different types of
algorithms.
Develop high efficiency photovoltaic solar system using the Incremental
Conductance MPPT algorithm in MATLAB/SIMULINK software.
