ENHANCING STUDENTS SPEAKING ABILITY IN TERM OF PRONOUNCIATION THROUGH LYRICAL LESSON A PRE
EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH IN ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA N 1 KUSUMA IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2015/2016

A. Statements of the problems

Based on the questions above, the main objectives of the study

can be stated as follow:

How is the speaking ability of the eleventh grade students of

SMA N 1 Kusuma before being taught by using lyrical lesson
game?

How is the speaking ability of the eleventh grade students of

SMA N 1 Kusuma after being taught by using lyrical lesson
game?

Is there any significant difference in speaking ability of the

students before and after being taught by using lyrical lesson
game?

B. Research Methodology
a. Research design
The researcher applied experiment design for this research. The purpose of
experimental research is to investigate possible cause and effect relationship by
exposing one or more experimental group to one or more treatment that is not
receiving the treatment. In this study the researcher used experiment design to
analyze lyrical lesson game as an alternative way to develop students speaking
ability in term of pronunciation skill. The researcher used pre test and post test to
do research.
b. Subject of the Study

Population

The writer will take of the eighth class. Population of this study is all of the
total number of the eleventh grade students of SMA N 1 Kusuma. There are ten
classes; class A until class J, and each class consists of 15 students, so the total
number of the eleventh year students of SMA N 1 Kusuma is150 students in the
year 2015/2016.

Sample

Stated that the subject is more than 100 people; it

can be taken 10% until 20%. So, because of the total
number of population more than 100 students, so the
writer will take 10% of the population. So the writer will
take XI A class of eleventh year that has 15 students.

Instrument of the Study

This research used test as instrument to get the data.

The test which was used to get the data was oral test.
There were two kinds of test that the researcher used;
they were pre-test and post-test.

C. Method of Data Analysis

In this research, the method of data analysis that used was

statistical data analysis, which analysed by several steps :

Scoring students pronunciation ability

Finding the mean of pre-test and post-test

Calculating standard deviation and standard error of

difference of the means

Calculating the data using the t-test

E. Conclusion

After finding out the T-test, the researcher used T-table

to compare the T-test. The value of T-table is 1.761 and the
value of T-test is 6.92. The value of T-test is more than the
value of T-table. So it can be concluded that there is a
significant improvement speaking skill of the eighth year
students. (HI) There is a difference of students speaking
mastery before and after being taught using lyrical lesson
game.
