Behavior Intervention Plan

Implementation and
Evaluation.
By Cindy Llanas

Baseline data
Bella is a 2 year old who does not like to pickup her toys from her room. Bella is my daughter
and has never attended a daycare, her father or
grandmother takes care of her when I go to
work or school and she is the only child. Her
baseline was conducted to observe how long it
would take her to place her toys in her toy box
by providing her with verbal and visual
prompts.

Interpretation of Baseline
Data
Bella will not pick up her toys unless she has
that constant prompting of being told verbally
and shown visually the expectation. Also, I had
to remain in the room for the first three days
next to the toy box. The first day was
unsuccessful after 35 minutes she gave up and
did not want to pick up her toys. Complained of
feeling tired and did not care for the reward.
Day 2 and 3 were a little better, she still
complained of being tired but the task got
completed between 30-28 minutes, which is still
a long time. There was also a lot of prompting
involved, both visually and verbally.

Behavior Intervention
Plan

The goal is to have Bella pick up her toys in 10

minutes or less with minimal supervision and
with less than 5 verbal and visual prompts
combined. Bella will be offer a variety of
rewards and then I will observed with which
reward she more motivated to pick-up her toys.

I will start by giving her close proximity and

guiding her of where to place her toys and then
slowly I will transition out of the room.

I will create my own monitoring tool, which will

be a table of my observations with the
information categorized for easy reading.

Behavior Intervention
Plan

Each time Bella completes the task she will get

rewarded with a reward of her choosing that
she would have chosen before conducting the
observation.

Conclusion

The Behavior Intervention Plan is working for Bella. The

reduction in the time it took Bella to pick up her toys went from
35 minutes down to 10 minutes. I did not have to do any more
visual prompting from my part, I only had to leave the reward
that she will be receiving near the entrance of her room.

The verbal prompting was brought down to less than 5 times.

I was able to completely step out the room and the targeted
behavior was being accomplished without the need for close
proximity.

Bella was definitely motivated to pick-up her toys by being

offered a reward that related to her still being active, like
playing the Candy Land board game.

My goal is to hopefully get her to pick up her toys without

always receiving a reward.

Overall, I am extremely happy of the results.
