Reasons for Misfits

Major reason for misfits is that strategies tend to change and evolve in
response to the environment

When competing in a very stable environment, companies could formulate a

constant strategy to be implemented with a consistent set of policies

However, when the environment changes more frequently, a companys

management system cannot keep up with that pace.
This is because implementation is more time consuming than formulating a
new strategy

General managers may consciously choose to permit the existence of

certain misfits, as a trade-off between implementation and new strategy
formulation
