ANGER MANAGEMENT
By Prof. Rm Saravanan

WHAT IS ANGER?

Anger is the potent energy.

The more we observe anger, it makes one think that, human being are so
unique and creative in expressing their anger.

Anger is nothing but expression of helplessness.

The breaking points are different but everyone gets angry

Anger is nothing but extreme displeasure

When expectation doesnt need reality

Anger leads to lot of hurt

During any Hurt, we have the power of to exercise anyone of 3 choices:

Low Morale and Inaction

Process hatred and rebel, agitate and fight

Convert Hurt into Growth

How to manage anger?

We should not try to control our anger, but we must channelize our anger for higher
purposes. A simple prescription would be to build awareness, because, the more we
become aware, the more possibility of conquering anger.

How to channelize?

Acceptance : Let us accept the outcome. The moment we accept, peace

returns. And with peace, one can move forward with ease to solve the
issue.

Self-awareness : Let us be aware of our anger and cause of our anger so

we can correct or channelize it.

Realization : Let us be aware that everybody lives and works for their own
reason. Let us drop the over expectation, we have from others.

Higher choice : Let us be aware that we have 2 choices in every situation.

Focus : Focus on What is in my control & dont bother much about What
is not in my control

Creative solutions : Look for creative solutions

7 KINDS OF ANGER

Anger due to lack of energy mothers

Anger due to expectation of instant results when ideas implemented doesnt

Anger when ones ego is hurt

Anger when ones heart is hurt

Anger in not able to manage irritants of life

Good anger : Social anger Convert anger into performance

APPLE REGISTERS AUTOMOBILE

DOMAIN NAMES, INCLUDING
APPLE.CAR
Apple Inc has registered domain names related to automobiles, adding to

speculation about the company's plans to develop an automobile.

The iPhone maker registered the domain names,

which include apple.car, apple.cars and apple.auto
in December, according to domain information
provider Who.is.

MacRumors had first reported the news on Friday,

but said the domain names could be related to
Apple's CarPlay, which lets drivers access contacts on their
iPhones, make calls or listen to voicemails without taking their hands off the
steering wheel.

Contd

While never openly acknowledging plans to build a car, Apple has been
aggressive in recruiting auto experts from companies such as Ford or
Mercedes-Benz.

Car technology has become a prime area of interest for Silicon Valley
companies including Google Inc, which has built a prototype self-driving car.

54,483 CYBER SECURITY INCIDENTS

REPORTED THIS FISCAL: GOVERNMENT

As many as 54,483 cyber security incidents such as phishing, spam and

malicious code have been reported in the current financial year.

These incidents were reported to the Indian Computer Emergency Response

Team (CERT-In) by various Indian organisations, individuals and agencies from
other countries

The area of information technology (IT)

is characterised by rapid developments
and fast changing obsolescence, IT Minister
Ravi Shankar Prasad said, adding that
"with every IT product introduced into the
market, newer vulnerabilities are
discovered, leaving scope for malicious actions".

Contd

He said however that CERT-In does not maintain any separate data with
regard to the losses incurred by the Indian companies due to cyber-attacks.

The minister said the government has taken various steps to curb
cyber-attacks.

With every IT product introduced into the market, newer vulnerabilities are
discovered, leaving scope for malicious actions.

CERT-In does not maintain any separate data with regard to the losses
incurred by the Indian companies due to cyber attacks.

IT minister said the government has taken various steps to curb cyber attacks.

The government is also in touch with Internet service providers (ISPs) on

upgradation of their infrastructure and technology so as to address the
shortcomings with regard to identifying and blocking encrypted websites.

5 BIGGEST TECH FAILURES OF 2015

2015 was a year of so many successful innovations and offerings in the field of
technology and research.

To err is human

Five tech failures which can provide a lesson for the future enterprises.

Airtel Zero initiative was literally zero

Airtels Zero initiatives which was supposed to be an innovative offering, failed miserably
and created mass outrage.

Criticized by its competitors too who were apprehensive that similar schemes may have to
come under consumer and regulatory scrutiny.

Companys brand image, especially among the youth, has taken a beating,

This was seen against the net neutrality Principles and it made the Indian Government take
sttrict steps in maintaining the standards of neutrality, the only good this plan ever did.

Contd

The Internet.org followed suit

The debate of net neutrality which was started by Airtel Zero was further fuelled by Mark
Zuckerbergs pet project Internet.org program now known as free Basics.

The company allows access to a certain websites in the name of giving access to basic
internet facilities to the poor people who cannot afford it.

Journalist, Nikhil Pahwa calls Zuckerbergs ambitious project an effort to confuse hundreds
of millions of emerging market users into thinking that Facebook and the Internet are one
and the same.

The concept can not only be termed as failure but also created deep divides among the
intelligentsia, the activists and even within the policymakers.

Ugrading to Windows 10, think twice

Free Windows 10 has an expensive secret.

According to reports, Windows 7 and 8 users can upgrade to Windows 10 for free but theyll
have to pay subscription charges from next year onwards.

Contd

Ashley Madison hack embarrasses millions

An organization called Impact Team hacked Avid Life Media, the operators of
affair matchmaking website Ashley Madison in July, with the user data of
millions of people being released by Impact Team in August.

Ashley Madison is a honeypot for people who had something to hide.

According to the report, about one third of the email addresses are fakes like
foxmulder@fbi.gov, but a surprising number of users registered with their
work email addresses, causing embarrassment both for employees and
employers

It has a psychological aspect to it that no other hack has had before- not to
such an extent.

Contd

4K videos boring

The much-hyped 4K suffered a terrible plight as critics called it boring - a

worst adjective given to any technology.

Even though the latest and high-end television sets support the technology,
there just isnt enough content available.

viewers can hardly tell the difference.

4K has already been superseded by the arrival of OLED 4K displays with HDR.

The other problem with launching a new standard like 4K is that companies
must convince consumers whove already invested in the status quo to upgrade
their existing content libraries.

INDIAN SOFTWARE MARKET TO GROW 12.8

PER CENT TO $5.3 BILLION IN 2016: GARTNER

India's software market is expected to grow 12.8 per cent to reach $5.3 billion
in 2016, research firm Gartner said, as the government and enterprises begin to
leverage digital technology.

Gartner says that digital business will

completely alter the market and that India
has the highest forecasted growth rate amongst
BRIC nations, a group that also includes China,
Brazil and Russia.

FDI inflows in 2015 have grown to $30.9

billion, a 27 percent increase year over
year.

Contd

Indian government is serious about leveraging information technology for

effective governance.

Use of software-as-a-service and open-source technology is also growing in

the Indian market.

Consumer-focused brands are rapidly purchasing and adopting digital

applications to strengthen their competitive position

Indian enterprising are evaluating emerging technology based on its ability to

deliver innovation and ability to deliver business value, rather than just cost

WIPRO BUYS US FIRM VITEOS FOR $130

MILLION

Wipro, Indias third-largest information technology (IT) services provider had

signed an agreement to acquire New Jersey-based back office services
provider Viteos Group for a consideration of $130 million (around Rs 860
crore).

This is the Bengaluru-headquartered companys second acquisition this month

and third in 2015.

The 12-year-old New Jersey-based Viteos provides services including

processing, reconciliation of trade, settlements and customer data across
asset classes and currencies for investment banking clients in the US, Europe
and Asia.

Viteos, which earned $26.5 million in revenue last fiscal year with roughly 400
employees, will retain its brand identity to strengthen its presence among
clients.

Contd

Wipro plans to use Viteoss licensing platform to offer services to buy-side

companies, a term used by investment bankers to refer to institutions that
buy investment services such as mutual funds, pension funds and insurers.

Wipro will also retain the US companys leadership team to drive platformbased outsourcing business services.

The acquisition reflects a broader shift in Indias software outsourcing

industry towards building an arsenal of intellectual property-led high-margin
software platforms rather than relying on an army of engineers to offer
technology solutions to clients.

Contd

In the past year, Wipro has been aggressively pursuing

its inorganic growth strategy, which is primarily
focused on acquiring newer capabilities and
platforms that can boost its drive towards
non-linearity.

Apart from cellent AG, Wipro had in July acquired

Designit, a Denmark-based global strategic design
firm for a consideration of ^85 million (around $94
595 crore).

SYSTEM UPGRADE REQUIRED: IT EMPLOYEES NEED

TO UPGRADE THEIR SKILLS TO SURVIVE THE DIGITAL
WAVE

As time passes by, more and more Indian IT firms are focusing on surfing
the digital wave, and because of this, there is an increase in the number
of employees, afraid that they would be washed-up by constantly changing
and developing technologies.

Even though it can't be denied that 80% of the business comes from older
technologies, experts are still of this opinion that this is all set to shrivel and
IT people have to upgrade their skills so that they can stay relevant.

some people with specific skill sets that would be out of use would surely
have to look for options either within their companies or outside

Contd

In April, Wipro official had stated that automation, artificial technology and
greater efficiency through digital technology would be reducing the
headcount of these companies by 30% in the coming three years.

This would most probably happen either through attrition and redeployment
to technologies of higher value.

IT companies are spending crores of rupees so that they can train their
employees with new skills, but even the companies tend to naturally pick
those who have the desired talent and an aptitude for coding.

Employees who have been mediocre at coding and development, have to

change roles into areas like pre-sales, business management or project
management, which are a mix of functional and technical skills.

INDIA RANKS 131 IN ICT DEVELOPMENT

INDEX

International Telecommunication Union measures countries according to their

level of ICT (information, communication and technology) access, use and
skills.

India has been ranked 131 out of 167

countries by the ICT Development Index
of the International Telecommunication Union.

The ITU report, Measuring the Information

Society, said that 3.2 billion people are now
online, or 43.4% of the global population.

only 18% Indians have access to the internet.

Worldwide, 7.1 billion people are covered by a mobile-cellular signal.

Contd

By the end of this year, 46% of households

globally will have internet access at home,
up from 44% last year and just 30% in 2010.
India, 15.3% of households have internet access.

TELANGANA TO SET UP AEROSPACE,

GAMING INCUBATION CENTRES

After the success of T-Hub, the Telangana government is in the process of

setting up two more incubation centres in gaming and animation and
aerospace sectors soon.

The government has started a pilot project to digitise the health records of
its 35 million citizens across the state.

We are also working to set up an aerospace incubation centre. We are

talking to Boeing and Pratt & Whitney. The heads of these two organisations
play key role in industry bodies such as CII. We want to keep these two
organisations in the forefront and develop a specific centre where all the
institutes come together with government support, Rao said.

Contd

As a part of T-Hub, the gaming and animation centre will be inaugurated on

December 5, while the aerospace incubation centre will be ready by March
next year

The integrated database would be available for both government and private
hospitals. The health records can be accessed by a unique ID or Aadhar card.
The whole data will be put in Cloud so that anybody can access it.

The government may consider budgetary allocation for the recently

inaugurated T-Hub, a technology incubator, with collaborative efforts from
the Indian School of Business ( ISB), the International Institute of Information
Technology (IIIT-Hyderabad) and NALSAR University of Law, besides various
other organisations.

SOCIAL IMPACT 2.0: TECHNOLOGY ENTERS SOCIAL

ARENA, NEW-AGE ENTREPRENEURS EMBRACE IT TO
INCREASE REACH

Uniphore Software Systems, which develops voice biometrics and speech analytics
software in 30 global and Indian languages, is running a pilot with taxi and autorickshaw drivers in Delhi-National Capital Region to see if its speech detection
technology can be an effective English-language teaching tool.

The project is for a telecom company that wants to offer English learning capsules
over the phone to its subscribers.

Bengaluru-based Artoo is rolling out a virtual assistant for field agents of non-banking
financial companies to manage daily tasks and schedule appointments with potential
borrowers.

Artoo, which originally developed customer relationship management software for

field agents of microfinance institutions, is repositioning itself to cash in on the big
boom involving the micro, medium, and small enterprise (MSME) sectoror the
'missing middle'that is in dire need of credit.

Contd

When Uniphore's founders were developing Akeira, an interactive voice

response software, they realized that their main challenge was not language
but dialect and accent, which could vary every 100 kilometers.

"(Akeira) needed the ability to handle different dialects. Also, calls coming
from far-flung areas come with background noisethe signalto-noise ratio was
skewed," said CEO Sachdev. Today, Akeira supports 150 dialects globally and is
used by large enterprise clients including SKS Microfinance, ITC and World
Health Partners.

When Bengaluru-based Forus Health developed 3nethra, a portable prescreening ophthalmologic device, the company ensured it was rugged enough
to weather arid terrain or rain forests.

The device requires 8-10 watts of power, can work with solar panels, costs a
fraction of western models, and can be used by minimally trained
technicians.

Contd

To date, doctors in 20 countries have used the device to test some 1.5 million
people, said K Chandrasekhar, CEO at Forus.

The 'base of the pyramid'representing the largest but also the poorest socioeconomic groupprovides many contexts that have strong design constraints,
which force a kind of creativity and fresh thought. But impact requires
adoption at the very bottom.

For this, technologists must put on a business hat to put together a model
that they can convince small entrepreneurs to adopt.

IS THE BUBBLE BURSTING FOR INDIA'S

ONLINE START-UPS?

Hundreds of layoffs at several Indian start-ups have sparked fears the bubble
is starting to burst for the country's e-commerce companies, amid claims by
analysts that many of them are overvalued.

Restaurant search website Zomato, food delivery app TinyOwl and property
portal Housing.com are all letting staff go, and experts are warning of echoes
of the dot-com boom which crashed spectacularly in 2000.

Wealthy investors boosted by low interest rates have been lining up to lavishly
back India's booming start-ups, with the government hailing the sector as
proof of the country's entrepreneurial spirit.

Yet despite the billions of dollars invested in recent years, most of India's
online startups are yet to turn profits and investments are largely based on
speculative future earnings.

SYMANTEC CORP TO DOUBLE CYBER

PROFESSIONALS AT CHENNAI CENTRE

Symantec Corp said it will double the number of cyber security professionals
at its Chennai centre to more than 200 over the next year, citing an urgent
need to augment capacity to address the increasing cyber threats globally.

Chennai is Symantec's largest security centre in Asia- Pacific and Japan

region, which includes Singapore, Tokyo and Sydney, operating 24 hours a day
seven days a week.

The major expansion in Chennai is largely supported by the highly-skilled

technical expertise available in the country.

Sparkes highlighted the inter-link of the four SOCs in Asia-Pacific and Japan,
pointing out that Chennai was operating with support from the other three
SOCs as 30 per cent of its staff were affected by heavy rains in Chennai.

Contd

With the launch of Singapore SOC, businesses will have access to intelligence,
accurate threat detection and proactive notification of emerging threats to
ensure sensitive data is protected.

Symantec will expand its Tokyo SOC and set up new centres in Europe over
the next year.

By investing in people and security IQ in Singapore and Asia Pacific, Symantec

is expanding its visibility into the region, enabling us to bolster customers'
security operations capabilities, and protect their critical information and
assets

49% OF CIOS FEEL BUDGET HAMPERS

INFORMATION SECURITY OPERATIONS

49% of CIOs feel a budget constraint is the main obstacle or reason that
challenge Information Security operations followed by lack of skilled labour.

The responses from more than 200 Indian organisations examine some of the
most important cyber security issues facing businesses today and finds that
65% believe their information security structure partially meets their
organization's needs.

When it comes to IT security budgets, only 18% say that their budgets should
be increased by up to 25% to align their organization's need for protection
with its management's tolerance for risk.

The most likely sources of cyber-attacks: hacktivists (70%) and criminal

syndicates (55%) have retained their top rankings with lone wolf hacker (42%)
and state sponsored attacks (32%) closing in.

Contd

The digital age and inherent connectivity of people, devices and organization
have opened up a whole new playing field of vulnerabilities. As old sources of
cyber threats evolve, new sources are emerging to add to the complexities for
organization.
