Instructor Information: Mrs. Marcy Carruth


A little about myself. I am originally from Cheektowaga, NY a suburb of
Buffalo.
I currently live in Jarrell, Tx which is a short drive from Austin. I have lived in
Texas for
16 years. I have 3 kids; 2 middle schoolers and a 2 year old. I have been a
teacher for 16 years. I have taught students in grades 1st through 12th. I enjoy
sports and the outdoors. I once was a Professional Baseball player. I played
for The Buffalo Nighthawks which was a Ladies Professional Baseball Team. T.
he reason I teach math is because I enjoy math and like math like games such
as Sudoku or logic puzzles.

Course Information
Course Prerequisite: 5th grade math
Course Description: 6th Grade Math reinforces basic mathematical
concepts and introduces skills that are essential for all students. Concepts,
procedures, and vocabulary that students will need in order to be successful
in upper-level algebra and geometry courses are introduced and continually
practiced. Students begin with a general review of the four basic operations.
They are introduced to exponents, geometric formulas, algebraic concepts,
ratios, percentages, and adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing signed
numbers. 6th Grade Math students work extensively with fractions, mixed
numbers, decimals, and estimating. Problem solving strategies are also an
integral part of the curriculum.
Course Goals and Objectives:
To prepare students for Math Course 1, Math Course 2, and Pre-Algebra.
For students to demonstrate comprehension and application of the above
topics with a minimum of 80% proficiency.
Course Length: - four nine week periods

session/watch the recorded version within 3 days of the live session unless
he student
has made different arrangements with the teacher within the 3 day

Attendance & Participation


Attendance Policy
Required number of days- must attend live class/watch recorded
sessions
Required amount of time within the course- 3 hours per week
When attendance will be taken- Monday of following week
Required attendance at synchronous sessions- must attend once
per week
Attendance make-up- extra credit opportunities will be available
Participation Expectation
Can a student work in advance? Yes but must attend 1 live session a
week and
can only work on the unit that is currently being taught.
Late work: will be accepted as long as it is within the unit that is being
taught; if it
is beyond the 9 weeks grading period it was suppose to be in the
