Objective:
1. Modeling and simulation of Photovoltaic
Pumping System
2. Coding , C++ programme on Codelite
3. A study on the performance and characteristics
of
photovoltaic pumping systems
4. Carbon Analysis was performed

PVPS Characteristics:
1. Photovoltaic Array is oversized by 20%, to
increase the efficiency, durability and lifetime
of the system
2. Polycrystalline solar cells are preferred, though
efficiency is lower but reduces the overall cost
3. Variable frequency drive has two functions, it
controls the frequency/rpm of the motor by
varying the voltage and inverts the DC to AC
4. Storage tank eliminates the use of batteries
and hence lowers the cost.
5. A suitable motor size is placed at optimal
height for ground water collection.

Effect on the
Environment- Carbon
carbon study is performed to analyze the probable
study
reduction in carbon emission.
1 kwh of energy produces 0.24 kg of carbon
dioxide (Diesel fuel)
To produce 980 million kwh of energy 235200
tonnes of Carbon dioxide is produced
annually.
Benefits of reducing carbon:
Improved air quality, reduction in pollution.
Reduction in green house gases
Reduced contamination of water from power plant
waste.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Remove Subsidies for diesel and increase
subsidies for PVPS (reduce cost of PV
material, so people are encouraged to
invest in PVPS).
Carbon trading can be done for 23520
tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.
Make and implement Policies to Monitor
Ground water removal for sustainable
development.
