supervised
by
the
SWA Supervisor and
the RTO Supervisor

General Guidelines
Before commencing SWA a student
MUST NOT FAILED MORE THAN TWO
UNITS (pending the institutions
Academic Board Approval) (PP13.2)
Student must observe the Rules and
Regulations of his/her employer (PP13.4)
Student are NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE
LEAVE during SWA (PP13.5)

Exemption from SWA


SWA may be exempted upon approval
from BDTVEC secretariat
a) Students (Part Time) with prior work
experience SC2 students of programmes
exempted from SWA
However, a Project / Vocational Assignment
must be completed. The Project /Vocational
Assignment proposal must be submitted
with the application for exemption.

95% attendance (excluding valid
reasons)
Or a minimum of 12 weeks and
must achieve 100% attendance

Valid Reasons to be
Absent
1. Illness
2. Hospital appointment
3. Illness in immediate family
4. Bereavement leave
5. Participation in a tournament/event
representing the country

7. Attendance at Government Functions
8. Civil court attendance
9. Any reasons/letters deemed valid (on
compassionate grounds) by the RTO and
Employer such as taking examination as
a private candidate or a driving test

Absence during SWA


Absent with valid reasons is only a
permission granted in order to avoid
disciplinary action or to repeat SWA.
A student who is absent either with
or without valid reason is still
recorded as absent

Essential Components for a


Successful SWA
Provision of SWA Task Lists shall be
provided by the RTO Supervisors to the
SWA Supervisors and students
Proper supervision including pre-SWA
briefing to students, RTO Supervisors and
SWA Supervisors
Regular RTO Supervisor visit (minimum of 2
visits) including proper feedback in
RTO Supervisors Visit Record Form
