"NOAH FOUND GRACE IN THE EYES OF THE

LORD
Genesis 6:8

God's displeasure with the world and

its wickedness
Genesis 6:57
5
Then 3the LORD saw that the wickedness of
man was great in the earth, and that every g
intent 4of the thoughts of his heart was only evil
5
continually. 6And hthe LORD was sorry that He
had made man on the earth, and iHe was
grieved in His jheart. 7So the LORD said, I will k
destroy man whom I have created from the face
of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing

"But Noah found grace

in the eyes of the Lord."
- Gen 6:8

This simply means that Noah

found favor in God's sight,
and we know the result of
that favor: escape for him
and his family from the flood!

a. But why Noah?

b. Why did Noah find grace in the eyes of
the Lord?
c. And how might we apply this to our
situation today?

WHY NOAH FOUND

GRACE IN THE EYES OF
THE LORD

A. HE WAS "A JUST MAN"

Genesis 6:9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah
was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah
walked with God.
1. Some translations say "righteous"
2. This likely refers to his moral relation to God

B. HE WAS "PERFECT IN HIS GENERATIONS"

Genesis 6:9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a
just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with
God.
1. Other translations (NASV, NIV) use the word
"blameless"
2. Not that he was sinless, but that there were no
blatant faults
3. He was a man of moral integrity among the people

C. HE "WALKED WITH GOD" - Gen 6:9

1. He imitated the example of Enoch, his
greatgrandfather
Gen 5:24 And Enoch walked with God;
and he was not, for God took him.

2. Walking with God in Noah's case likely

involved...
a. Calling upon the name of the Lord (which
began in the
days of Seth
Gen 4:26 And as for Seth, to him also a son was
born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began
to call on the name of the LORD.

b. Offering sacrifices to God

(which began in the days of Cain & Abel - Gen
4:3-4)

Genesis 8:20 Then Noah built an altar to

the LORD and, taking some of all the clean
animals and clean birds, he sacrificed
burnt offerings on it.

D. HE "DID ACCORDING TO ALL THAT THE LORD COMMANDED

HIM"
Gen 6:22Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded
him, so he did.
Gen 7:5 And Noah did according to all that the LORD
commanded him.
FAITH! Heb 11:7
7By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen,
moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his
household, by which he condemned the world and became heir
of the righteousness which is according to faith.

E. HE WAS "A PREACHER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS"

2Pe 2:5 and did not spare the ancient world, but
saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of
righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world
of the ungodly;
1. He not only "lived" a righteous life
2. But he also "proclaimed" the need for
righteousness, eventhough he lived in a very
ungodly world

Noah and his family "found grace

in the eyes of the Lord."
What about ourselves? Is there a need for us to "find
grace in the eyes of the Lord" today?

WHY WE NEED TO FIND

GRACE IN THE EYES OF
THE LORD

A. NOT BECAUSE WE FACE THE THREAT OF A

WORLDWIDE FLOOD...
1. After Noah and his family were saved from the
flood, God
promised He would never again destroy the
world in such a
manner
Gen 9:8-11Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons
with him, saying: 9And as for Me, mbehold, I establish
n
My covenant with you and with your 1descendants
after you, 10oand with every living creature that is with
you: the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth

2. The rainbow is a constant reminder of God's

promise
Gen 9:12-17 And God said: Thisisthe sign of the covenant
which I make between Me and you, and every living creature
thatiswith you, for perpetual generations:13I set My rainbow
in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant
between Me and the earth.14It shall be, when I bring a cloud
over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the
cloud;15and I will remember My covenant whichisbetween
Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters
shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.16The
rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember
the everlasting covenant between God and every living

B. BUT BECAUSE WE FACE THE PROMISE OF THE END OF THE WORLD!

kaluwalhatian, ngayon at magpakailanman! Amen.

HOW WE CAN FIND

GRACE IN THE EYES OF
THE LORD

A. WE MUST BE "JUST" IN HIS SIGHT...

2 Peter 3:14Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be
diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;
Romans 3:2426
being justified 7freely zby His grace athrough the redemption that is in
Christ Jesus, 25whom God set forth bas a 8propitiation cby His blood,
through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His
forbearance God had passed over dthe sins that were previously
committed, 26to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness,
that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
24

B. WE MUST BE "PERFECT" IN OUR GENERATION...

1. That is, to be complete, mature, to be
everything God desires
of us

C. WE MUST "WALK WITH GOD"...

1. no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk
Ep 4:17-2017This I say, therefore, and testify in the
Lord, that you should vno longer walk as 6the rest of the
Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18having
their understanding darkened, being alienated from the
life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them,
because of the wblindness of their heart; 19xwho, being
past feeling, yhave given themselves over to lewdness,
to work all uncleanness with greediness.
2.

a. "Walk in love"
b. "Walk as children of light", exposing the sins of

D. WE MUST "DO ALL THAT THE LORD HAS

COMMANDED"...
E. WE MUST BE "PREACHERS OF
RIGHTEOUSNESS"...

CONCLUSION
God does not want anyone to perish in
the great conflagration that is yet to
come, but He does require all to come
to repentance - 2 Pe 3:9
