SERVANT

LEADERSHIP

Ephesians 4:11
11 And He (Christ) gave some to
be apostles, some prophets,
some evangelists, and some
pastors and teachers

Ephesians 4:12-14
for the equipping of the people
in the pews for the work of
ministry, for the edifying of the
body of Christ, 13 till we all come
to the unity of the faith and of the
knowledge of the Son of God, to
full blown maturity, and our full
potential in Christ.
(henton paraphrase)

Pat Williams said:

A big part of an effective vision is one
that gives everyone in the organization
an exalted vision of themselves. They
must see themselves as fitting in with
important leadership roles. The
organization must be infinitely bigger
than one leader.
A leaders most important task is not to
recruit followers, but to build leaders.

The point? There is no

success
without sucesssors.

It started with Jesus. Its his

vision. No one should take
credit for Jesus vision but Jesus.
What was that vision?

Isaiah put it this way: Of the

increase of His kingdom there shall
be no end.
Jesus vision was that every person
would be so motivated and
equipped, that every believer would
accomplish his or her full potential.

Matthew 16:18
Jesus said, I will build my
church. That means Jesus
must always exercise
supervision of his plan.

A supervisor is someone who can see

something his employees cant as
clearly. He should always be wanting
them to see it and facilitating the
vision at all times, but the reason hes
in his position,
is that he doesnt lose sight of
the vision. What he has is
super-vision.
--Steve Henton

Keep the vision in sight.

Walt Disney envisioned a place
called Disneyland. In the
middle of the park would be
Sleeping Beauty Castle. How
would the construction take
place? The vision would come
first, then the building.

Leadership Excellence
A shared vision takes place when
people throughout the
organization buy into the vision
with enthusiasm, intensity, and a
sense of personal commitment.
How then do you persuade people
to buy into the vision?
--Pat Williams

Four things to do as a
leader.
1. Share credit
2. Everyone in the organization
benefits, not just for the leader.
3. Build relationships with the
team (church).
4. Keep the vision constantly
before the team (church).

Members walk out their salvation in

redeemed relationshipsat home, at
work, and at church.
Redeemed means the love of God is
received and transmitted, and His
grace is flowing at all times.
We pass on to the culture around us the
life of Jesus, not just information about
him.

Vision continued
A church where encouragement is
given and received in order to live out
our new lives in Christ.
Worship is lively with an intergenerational flavor, and praise is
flowing at all times.
Children are welcome and encouraged
to find their godly purpose in life,
without having to be super-religious.

Its not about making church

members, but making disciples.
Disciples reproduce, members
dont.
Church life and kingdom life are
indistinguishable.

Philippians 1:6
6 being confident of this very
thing, that He who began a
good work in you will complete
it until the day of Jesus Christ.
