INTERVIEW

: An interview is any planed


conversation with a specific purpose involving
two or more people.
INTERVIEWEE : Interviewee is the person who
answers the questions asked by interviewer.
INTERVIEWER :Interviewer is the person who
asks questions to the interviewee.

DOs AS AN INTERVIEWEE
Doyour research and know the type of job interview you
will encounter.
Doplan to arrive about 10 minutes early. Late arrival for
a job interview is never excusable.
Dogreet the receptionist or assistant with courtesy and
respect. This situation is where you make
yourfirstimpression with the employer.
Dobring extra resumes to the interview.

DOs AS AN INTERVIEWEE
Dowait until you are offered a chair before sitting.
Anddoremember body language and posture: sit upright
and look alert and interested at all times.
Domake good eye contact with your interviewer(s).
Doshow enthusiasm in the position and the company.
Doavoid using poor language, slang, and pause words
(such as like, uh, and um).
Dohave a high confidence and energy level, butdontbe
overly aggressive.

DONTs AS AN
INTERVIEWEE
Dontbe soft-spoken. A forceful voice projects
confidence.
Dontact as though you would take any job or are
desperate for employment.
Dontsay anything negative about former colleagues,
supervisors, or employers.
Dontever lie. Answer questions truthfully, frankly and
succinctly. Anddontover-answer questions.

DONTs AS AN
INTERVIEWEE
Dontanswer questions with a simple yes or no. Explain
whenever possible. Describe those things about yourself that
showcase your talents, skills, and determination. Give detailed
examples.
Dontbring up or discuss personal issues or family problems.
Dontanswer cell-phone calls during the interview, anddoturn off
(or set to silent ring) your cell phone.
Donttell jokes during the interview.
Dont interrupt the interviewer.

DO AS AN INTERVIEWER
Do focus on the candidate's personality.It's crucial to determine
whether that person will fit in at your facility and how well he or she
will work with others.
Do prepare in the manner in which you conduct the on-site interview
sends a clear message to the candidate about your organization.
Do talk about expectations and goals.Lay out the ground rules and
discuss expectations for how the candidate will work and handle
difficult situations,
Do provide time at the end of the interview for the candidate to ask
questions.

DO AS AN INTERVIEWER
Doprovide a brief (under a minute is a good rule of thumb)
introduction of yourself that includes your background, what you
do with the company and how long you have been there, along
with any other information you think is relevant.
Do your homework one of the worst things interviewer can do
is be ill-prepared for an interview. Give yourself enough time to
research the person you plan to interview.
Do reduce stress of candidates . Candidates find job interviews
stressful because ofthe many unknowns.

DONT AS A INTERVIEWER
Dontspend the interview talking about yourself. Resist
the urge to identify yourself with the candidate (me
too!).
Don't be nosy.Steer clear of asking personal questions
and never ask about marital status, children, pregnancy,
or personal life.
Don't ask yes or no questions.Give candidates
opportunities to tell you about experiences they have had
so that you learn more about their skills and personality.

DONT AS A INTERVIEWER
Dont involve too many other colleagues in the interviews
multiple checks are good, but too many people can
belabour process.
Dont put too much emphasis on cultural fit.
Dont be disrespectful and biased.
