The group offers a wide range of products like Gloves, Protective Clothing,
Protective Gear & Environmental Protection Equipments.
Their gloves are used in a multitude of industries including automotive,
medical, chemical, environmental, metal fabrication, food processing,
pharmaceuticals, electronics, aerospace, plastics, pulp & paper etc.

ERP Vision Statement :
To integrate all business processes of Midas safety throughout the group for
ease in reporting to the top management and to have real time information
regarding financial and manufacturing systems.

ADAPTION PHASE:
ERP readiness assessment :
Organization Culture : First the management decided to change the organizational culture and to compete in the
markets with the best business practices.
Well-defined business processes: To make the business process that help the organizational to make the improvement
IT infra-Structure Since Midas Safety is located in 6 countries, the third priority was of the server location.
Affordability/Commercial Midas was ready to implement the ERP because the ROR is more.
Employees skill sets end users will learn the new way to work with new software.

ERP Implementation Decision:


It

took about 6 to 12 months to analyze whether the group needs to Implement ERP to increase the efficiency of its
different SBUs and to get a competitive edge over its competitors.

ACQUISITION PHASE:
Creation of SRS Document :
The documents were prepared during a detailed session with ERP consultants. Scoping has been
finalized and the SRS document has been maintained.

Following ERP Product Evaluation was carried out by Midas IT Professional.

Demos from ERP Vendors :
During the acquisition phase demos were taken from following vendors to select the ERP
that suits their business functionality :
IBM
Siemens
Abacus
Generic or Vertical ERP :
Midas Safety preferred a Generic ERP solution so that a wide range of functionality can be
availed as per company needs.
Consultant Group :
IBM Group was selected for SAP Implementation in organization, because of brand name and
the expertise of the consultants and the experience of implementing the ERP system.

Implementation Strategy
In Midas Safety phase wise implementation strategy was adapted in order to
mitigate the failure risk
Power Users Selection
IT Professionals with in-depth knowledge of company portfolio and business
were selected as power users
Preparation of AS-IS Process
AS-IS process were prepared before the implementation process so that TO-BE
process can be easily adapted during the implementation phase.

Blueprints Sign Off Time:
It takes 6-8 months to sign off the blueprints documents.

It took around 2 Years for ERP Implementation in Midas Safety, which was supposed to be completed in about
18 Month.

Midas have 1000 end users which are performing business transactions every day.

IMPLEMENTATION PHASE:
Legacy Application:
It was immediately discontinued to test the PRD with the daily operational
activities. End Users were highlighting the issues to make the system more
easy.
ERP Difficulties
During UAT and EUT, we faced the difficulties and maintain the log so that IBM
consultant debug.

USE AND MAINTAINENCE PHASE:


Support from Consultant :

The mandatory support from consultants were taken for a period of 1 Year after the
implementation phase of ERP.
Maintenance Support :

Initially a group of internal consultants were used for supporting in the maintenance
activity of ERP
in case of any complex issue
outsource consultants were also
consulted to ensure smooth operation.
ERP Up gradation :

The group is deciding to upgrade its current ERP to meet the demands of competitive
market.
ERP Satisfaction :

The group is 95% Satisfied from ERP Performance.

EVOLUTION PHASE:
The Company has Evolved its ERP by implementing SAP BI, BO, CRM, Ariba,
planning tool, Success Factor (Performance System).
Also, the data base server is upgraded to SAP HANA (4.0)
