the Safety Program

The safety program may be define as


a method employed by management to
share and assign responsibility for accident
prevention and to ensure performance
under that responsibility.
Something not imposed, but must be built into
every process or product design and into every
operation.

Prevention of accidents is basically achieved
through control of the working environment and
control of peoples actions.
Only management can implement such control.
An effective safety program will have working
environment in which operations can be
conducted economically, efficiently, and safely.

Basic policy declaration are these

POLICY STATEMENT (sample)


The Management of Marjan Industries Phil., Inc. is
committed to provide a safe and healthful environment
in the workplace. It is therefore a matter of policy that
each one is enjoined to observe and adhere to this
policy while in the employ of the Company.
Employees safety and property protection are the
direct responsibility of all company personnel. Safety
and Loss Prevention Program are as much as a
measure of efficient operations as reaching production
and sales goals, quality standards, or cost reduction.
The Loss Prevention Department is responsible for
assisting management in the development and
implementation of safety programs, safety education
and training for all employees.

Implementing the Safety Policy

One a safety policy statement is established, it


should be publicized so that every employee
becomes familiar with it.
The effectiveness of any safety policy and
program varies directly with the active support
given to its by management.
Expression of management interest include
enforcement of policy and program, recognition
of good safety records, review of safety reports
and participation in meetings.

Implementing the Safety Policy

Management must take the lead in keeping interest
