Jigsaw Method

Research done in year 2005.

From observation :

Students cannot draw the ray diagram of convex lens .

Students dont understand the terms of , object

distance , image distance, focal length , focus
point , the caharacteristics of image.

How to draw ???

Pre test

The results from the pre test :

30 % of the students manage to draw the
ray diagram.

Helping the : Physics teacher

Teacher have to prepare the materials.

One table consists of one handouts.
Students have to the work in group , with the time given.
Students found that this activity is like playing

What is jigsaw method :

1.

Combination of simple handouts contains of different object distance and

focal length.

2.

Students have to take one handouts per time

3.

Complete the handouts within time given

4.

Moves to another table and take the seconds .

5.

Complete it untill five handouts.

6.

Back to the seats and combined all the 5 handouts and discuss it with friends.

Examples of handouts :

There are 5 handouts . That the

students have to complete it.

When they complete all . Teacher have to

discuss it with class and make sure
brainstorming sessions . To ensure it
understand all.

Post test

90% of the students manage to get 95

marks . And it does show that this
method is can be used in class.
