Lesson 12: The House Built on a

Rock, Primary 7: New

Testament,41

Have you ever built a

house out of sand?
Did you watch the waves
wash it away?
If you were
building a house
to live in, you
wouldnt build it
on sand.

You would want to build

your house on a solid
foundationperhaps of
concrete
or if
rock.
Then
the
rain came
down, a
flood
started, or
the wind
blew, your
house

of God, and his
righteousness (Matt. 6:33).

Jesus said
that to live
with Him in
the kingdom
of heaven,
His disciples
needed to
learn the
gospel and
to live it.

He explained: Therefore
whosoever heareth these
sayings of mine, and doeth
them, I will liken him unto a
wise man, which built his
house upon a rock:

And the rain descended,

and the floods came,
and the winds blew, and beat
upon that house;
and it fell not: for it was founded
upon a rock.

And every one that

heareth these sayings of
mine, and doeth them not,
shall be likened unto a
foolish man, which built his
house upon the sand:

And the rain descended,

and the floods came,
and the winds blew, and beat
upon that house;
and it fell: and great was the
fall of it. (Matt. 7:2427.)

Jesus and his teachings are

our only sure foundation.
If we build our
lives on
anything else, it
would be like
building a
house upon

What do some
people build

Money, fame, popularity,

sports, physical beauty, and
so on
These are all sandy
foundations to have as
main goals in life.
Is it important in our lives
to make money, to play
sports and get exercise, to
have friends and do nice

We need money to buy

Friends and work are also

But if these
things become
more important
than following
the Savior and
living the gospel,
