Keyboard

KEY BOARD
The keyboard is the most common and widely
used input device.
It is made up of buttons called 'keys'. The keys are
arranged into sections.

MULTIMEDIA KEYBOARD
Multimedia keyboard has some additional
keys to operate multimedia operations like
volume up, volume down, play, pause,
stop etc.

MOUSE
Mouse is a small hand-held pointing
device that basically controls the
two-dimensional movement of the
cursor on the displayed screen.

WHEEL MOUSE

Mechanical or optical mouse that

contains a scroll wheel.

OPTICAL MOUSE

JOYSTICK
Joystick is a pointing

playing games. This is
a device used to
control the actions in a
computer game. It
consist of a lever used
to move the pointer on
the screen and buttons
used to select options.

SCANNER
Scanning devices are the input devices
that can electronically capture text and
images, and convert them into computer
readable form.

Scanners

HAND-HELD
SCANNERS

H a n d - h e l d s c a n n e r s a re t h e s c a n n i n g
devices that are generally used for
digitizing the images into bit map,
which is a matrix of 0s and1s. The size
of these scanners is small and the price
i s re l a t i v e l y l e s s a s c o m p a r e d t o t h e
o t h e r t h re e t y p e s o f s c a n n e r s .

FLAT BED
SCANNERS

Flat scanners consist of a flat surface

composing of glass pane on which the
documents are kept for scanning. Under
this glass pane, there is xenon light and a
CCD, which consists of an array of red,
green and blue filters.

DRUM
SCANNERS

Drum scanners generally consist of a large

drum, which is used for scanning the
documents. These scanners make use of
the Photo Multiplier Tubes (PMT)
technology, instead of the CCD technology.

SLIDE
SCANNERS

Slide scanners are used for scanning slides

as well as film negatives. The slides are
created on a transparent base using
photochemical solution. The film negatives
are the invention of the positive images.

MICRO
PHONE

Device that converts electric pulses into

broadcast or recorded sounds.
A microphone allows you to record your
voice to the computer.
It also lets you speak to other people using
computers or even on the telephone.
A microphone is also called a mike.

DIGITAL
CAMERA

A Digital camera is a hand held electronic

device that is used to capture the image of
an object electrically. The digital camera
consists of a built in computer, which
helps in recording the images
electronically.

CAMERAS

Miniature digital camera used to transmit

video images in real time or for
videoconferencing over the Internet.
