Page9

Application Scenarios

Multi-operator network sharing scenario

Each MRRU module serves the cells of multiple operators at the same
time.
Suburban areas with low user density

Advantages of the feature

Two to four operators share the BSS.

The maximum power resource of each operator is limited.

The main BCCH and non-main BCCH carriers of an operator cover
different areas. In this way, the coverage and capacity are balanced.
Carrier power is configured based on independent planning, and
resource sharing is flexible.

Restrictions of the feature

This feature is provided only as a test feature.

Page13

Impacts on Performance
Network Performance
Indicator

Impact

Reason

Only one BCCH provides overlay coverage, and

the congestion probability of an overlay cell is
high.
The congestion rate of this cell is higher than
that of a common cell.

Bigger power difference between the BCCH

and the TCH causes higher congestion
probability and greater impact.

Call drop rate

Overlay congestion occurs and call drop rate is

increased.

If overlay congestion occurs, a user accessing

the network may be allocated with the underlay
channel, and this may cause call drops due to
improper access.
In addition, if the user moves from the underlay
channel to the overlay channel, call drops may
occur because a handover cannot be
implemented in time.
Bigger power difference between the BCCH
and the TCH causes higher call drop probability
and greater impact.

Handover success rate

Except for inter-cell handover, if the BCCH and

the TCH cover different areas, handovers
between underlay and overlay of a cell are
introduced, and the handover success rate is
decreased.

1. The number of handovers increases.

2. For handovers destined for the underlay of a
neighboring cell, the handover success rate is
affected.

The mean opinion score (MOS) remains

unchanged or is decreased.

1. Advantage: The MOS may be increased as

the underlay coverage area is small and the
underlay interference is slight.
2. Disadvantage: The MOS is affected because
the concentric configuration causes the number
of handovers to increase (underlay-overlay
handovers and load handovers).

Congestion rate

Function Description

Independent logical ports for Abis interface IP transmission

resources:

Independent admission is implemented in the control plane based on

the bandwidth allocation of operators.

For the transmission resource admission requests of the users of an

operator, the required transmission bandwidth can be allocated only from
the dedicated bandwidth of the operator.

Unified flow control is implemented in the user plane based on the

total bandwidth.

When congestion is detected, flow control is implemented for the users of

all operators.
