SPOOF
Spoof text is a kind of text that is the most enjoyable to
learn. Why? Because Spoof text is one type of English
text that telling a funny story.
Spoof text is one of the narrations that tells us
something that really happened in the past time with
purpose for entertain the readers or the listeners. Spoof
text is lighter and more entertaining than the narrative
text. Spoof text is one of the stories that have a twist.
This twist usually appears in the ending of the story, that
is why spoof text is unpredictable and has funny effects.

Definition and Social Function of Spoof


Spoof is a text which tells factual story, happened in
the past time with unpredictable and funny ending.
Its social function is to tell the humorous story which
meant to entertain the readers.

Generic Structure of Spoof


1. Orientation : Is a opening part which tells us the issue or the
problem that will be solved or told in the story. Orientation gives us
the important thing about the characters who were involved and
setting when time and where place was happened.
2. Events : Parts where the story explained into paragraphs that
linked each other. Events are not limited into one or two scene or
act. Events also adds more specific problems that happened,
explains how the problems raise, and the dilema.
3. Twist : The most important part of the story, because this part
which will make us laugh, this part is unpredictable and the funniest
part. Readers even did not predict before that it would be. Twist can
only be found in spoof texts.

Language Feature of Spoof


1. Focusing on people, animals or certain things.
2. Using action verb; ate, ran, etc.
3. Using adverb of time and place.
4. Told in chronological order.


A spoof text is amusing. It is really
entertaining as well as educating. A spoof text
can be very simalar to NARRATIVE, RECOUNT
or even NEWS ITEM. All are mostly composed
in PAST TENSES mode. A spoof text is
arranged in the generic structure of
ORIENTATION, EVENTS, and TWIST. Because
of this TWIST (an unpredictable ending), the
story seems very funny. Take a look on the
following example of spoof text!

Boom Boom Car


Cici and Rara were a senior high school student. That holiday, they werent go to the out
of city so they decided to spend their holiday with go to mall, shopping, and so on, even
do something stupid.
First, they went to the cinema to watch the newest movie, that is Mission Impossible. The
following day, they went to mall to shopping. But actually, they didnt buy anything, they
only tested something like shoe and clothes, and then go from its shop. Sometime, the
shop keeper get angry because of their action. But, for Cici and Rara,it didnt matter.
Eventually, it makes them happy :D
Time passes
In the last day of their holiday, Cici and Rara have no idea to spend their holiday again,
until Rara shoutes, How about playing boom-boom car? I miss to play that game :D
Sure, answers Cici.
So they go to the third floor of Ayani Megamall which boom boom car placed.
That car looks good, right? asks Cici while pointed to the red car in the corner of the
playing area.
Yup, lets ride it! says Rara.
Then, the horn ring. That means the game is start. Rara drive the car, she start to pushes
the accelerator but the car is off. Then, Cici try to drive the car. She pushes the
accelerator but the engine still off. They try and try again.Until the boom-boom car
man come and says, Dont you read this?
The car has broken down!

Orientation : There were two students of senior high school named Cici and Rara.
They
didn't go to the out of city while holiday time.
Event 1 : Cici and Rara went to the cinema to watch the newest movie
Event 2 : They go shopping, but actually they didn't buy anything
Event 3 : They played Boom-boom Car in Ayani Megamall
Twist : Cici and Rara didn't know that the car which they drove has broken down
Unfamiliar Words
Accelerator :
Pedal in a car that is pressed with the foot to increase the cars speed.
Decided :
Think about something and choose between the possibilities available
Broken down :
has been damaged or injured
Pointed :
Directed in a clear, often critical way, against a particular person
Eventually :
adverb in the end

Artist Didnt Always Famous


There was a little boy named Pieter. He lived near Super Junior's house.
Super Junior is the most famous boyband in South Korea.
One day, Pieter meets Yesung, one of Super Junior member. When
Yesung come closer to Pieter, he says, "Hey, do you like boyband?"
"Err.. not really, i only liked Super Junior," answers Pieter.
"Oh, who did you like mostly in Super Junior ?" asks Yesung.
"Yesung. But, this time i rather afraid that he was a guy. How about
you?"
"I think, not all of boyband were a gay."
"Ya, whatever.. By the way, what's your name and where do you lived?"
"Yesung. I live there," says Yesung while pointed on Super Junior's
house.

Text Analyzing
Orientation : A little boy named Pieter that lived near Super Junior's
house
Event 1 : Pieter met Yesung, one of Super Junior member
Event 2 : Yesung and Pieter talked about boyband
Event 3 : Pieter said that her favorite member in Super Junior
member was a guy
Twist : Pieter doesn't know that he was talking to Yesung
