SUMMARY
CHAPTER 9

Summary
Richard was surprised when Gus showed up at the
barn because he usually at the baseball practice at
the time. Gus informed to Pa that he got enlisted and
will leave for basic training the next day. Pa was sad
to heard the news. Pa almost looses himself went Gus
said that he is too tough and smart to get killed in
battle. Pa went off talking about his brother who
killed in Cuba make Gus lost for words. Pa vents his
anger and accuses Gus of being lazy.
Gus had trouble bidding goodbye to his unresponsive
father. As Gus departs for Sioux City, only then it
came to Richard of Hannahs worry for her brother.
