H Series - Surgical Rooms Air Conditioning

The air conditioning system

for surgical rooms must
assure a High Air Quality;
to get it the following
six goals must be
achieved.

H Series - Surgical Rooms Air Conditioning

First goal

Second goal

Third goal

Fourth goal

Elimination or Elimination of Elimination of Reduction of

minimization bacteriological bacteriological batteriological
of chemical
contamination contamination contamination
contamination coming from
due to the
coming from
due to the
the external
surgical team
the
anestetical gas environement
or to the
surrounding
environments patient himself

Fifth goal

Sixth goal

Guaranty a
good level
of control of
temperature
and humidity

Obtain the
first 5 goals
guarantiing
the maximum
energy saving

H Series - Surgical Rooms Air Conditioning

First goal
Elimination or
minimization
of chemical
contamination
due to the
anestetical gas

Chemical contamination
cant be filtered.
The only solution
is the dilution with a
great quantity of fresh air.
The fresh air quantity
depends from the local
Norms

H Series - Surgical Rooms Air Conditioning

First goal
Technical
considerations

The fresh air flow must be

constant in time even if the
filters become dirty and
therefore raise their
pressure drop.

H Series - Surgical Rooms Air Conditioning

Supply fan section

with F9 filter

Constant air flow to

the surgical room

H Series - Surgical Rooms Air Conditioning

Second goal
Elimination of
bacteriological
contamination
coming from
the external
environement

The bacteriological
contamination coming from
outside is eliminated
through the absolute filters
to be fitted at the end of the
supply ducts: H13 for
general surgery, and H14
for orthopedics and more
delicate operations.

H Series - Surgical Rooms Air Conditioning

Third goal
Elimination of
bacteriological
contamination
coming from the
surrounding
environments

The batteriological
contamination coming from
the surrounding
environments is eliminated
by mantaining the room is
overpressure respect to
them.

H Series - Surgical Rooms Air Conditioning

Third goal
Elimination of
bacteriological
contamination
coming from the
surrounding
environments

To mantain an environment
in over/underpressure in
respect to a reference one it
is sufficient to extract more
or less air than the one
supplied in.

H Series - Surgical Rooms Air Conditioning

Fourth goal
Reduction of
batteriological
contamination due
to the surgical team
or to the patient
himself

The endogenous
batteriological pollution
from the patient or from the
surgical team is eliminated
by filtering with absolute
filters as frequently as
possible the treated air.

H Series - Surgical Rooms Air Conditioning

How is it done?
Fifth goal
Guaranty a good
level
of control of
temperature and
humidity

With treatment sections that

guaranty the high quantity of
fresh air throught thermodynamic
components both for the control
of humidity and temperature with
a strong and modulating capacity
control. Even in the case of direct
expansion units the frigorific
capacity is modulated by an
inverter on the compessor.

H Series - Surgical Rooms Air Conditioning

Sixth goal
Obtain the first 5
goals guarantiing
the maximum
energy saving

How is it done? Raising

as much as possible the
air re-circulation,
obviously in respect to
the local Standard
concerning the fresh air
flow.

H Series - Surgical Rooms Air Conditioning

How is it done?

Sixth goal
Obtain the first 5
goals guarantiing
the maximum
energy saving

Night Stand-by of the units,

activable from the presence
feelers, BMS, hour timetables or
manualy:
Reducion of the capacity by 1/3 of
the nominal one, external one
Mantaining the overpressure
Raising the dead range from 0,3
to 10

Air Distribution
in Surgical
Rooms

Surgical Rooms Air Distribution

Turbulent air distribution: generic surgery

Air quality class according ISO 14644: ISO7
Air in the room: 15/20 Vol/h

Surgical Rooms Air Distribution

Unidirectional air distribution system: specialistic surgery

Air quality class according ISO 14644: ISO5
Air flow in the aseptic zone only: 250 Vol/h
