product use forms and conventions of media products? Similarities: The contents pages have made it clear that they talk about the contents of the page because they have wrote it at the top quite obviously. Both the contents page covers have made the fact the brand clear by using the masthead or an acronym to take up less space and make it have a better layout The pages both give a brief explanation of what content the specific pages in the magazine hold. The contents pages both have images on them. Both the contents pages also stick to a specific colour scheme for the colour of the text. My magazine and the Urban magazine have both highlighted the page numbers by using bolder font of different coloured
Differences:
While my cover uses the whole
masthead to brand the magazine, the Urban magazine uses just the first letter to brand the page. I have placed the title contents under the masthead, while the Urban magazine have placed the title in the top right corner. I have used multiple images on my page however the Urban magazine have used a single image. The Urban magazine uses different colours for the font while mine only uses one colour for the text. Urban magazine has used multiple sub-headings to divide the contents of the magazine, while mine just gives a small description of what will be on each page.
How I followed codes and
conventions On my magazines contents page I followed some codes and conventions, such as including a large and bold masthead to make people aware of the brand of the magazine. I placed this at the top of the page to make it clear, as this is what most brands do. I have labelled the page contents clearly so the audience is aware of what they are reading. I have also used images to portray what will be included in my magazine. And I have anchored these images by putting a page number on them to show which article they relate to. My contents page also contains descriptions under the page number, to tell people what will be on some of the pages of the magazine. I have stuck to my magazines colour scheme by using the colour brown for my text as this relates to the masthead and makes the layout more appropriate. The font used for the text is also the same, like most
How I developed codes and
conventions
I used multiple images on my contents page instead of one
main image to give the audience a better idea as to what the articles will be about as a student magazine is based on many different types of topics. I used only one colour for the text in my contents page as I wanted to follow the colour scheme and also make the layout seem professional. I didnt see the need to use a different colour for the text as I made the page numbers bolder compared to the rest of the text instead. I did not divide the text in the contents page by using subheadings because I felt as if the content of the articles came under one category.
Comparing the Draft and
the Final I placed the masthead and the contents heading at the top of the page, like I planned on my contents page draft I have kept the layout of the contents page the same as my draft. I placed the images in the middle creating a row of pictures and separating the headings on my contents page
