Objective
Developing of the self expert-system for predicting the cutting force in milling
operation using MATLAB software.

LITERATURE SURVEY OF THE WORK

1] Khalid. H.Hashmi, Dr. Shahid Khalil, Atif Suleman, Dr. G Zakria, Muhammad Sharif . This
research covers the steps taken to gain insight into the measurement and analysis of cutting forces during high
speed milling so that these forces should have minimum effect on cutting tool and rapid tool wear can be
controlled. In order to measure and record the cutting forces during high speed milling,
2]VenkateswaraSarma M. Precision parts with curved surfaces such as dies and molds are required in many
manufacturing industries. This project presents an approach for modeling the cutting forces acting on ball end
mill in milling on mechanistic principles of metal cutting. These modeling equations governing the cutting
forces are programmed in the MATLAB software.

3] Kanhu Charan Nayak, 1Rajesh Kumar Tripathy, 2Sudha Rani Panda, 3Shiba Narayan

Sahoo In this study ANFIS model was exploited for the prediction of cutting forces of conventional milling
operation during machining of mild steel. The input parameters such as Cutting speed, feed and Depth used for
the prediction of forces in X and Z-direction.
4] Anna Carla Silveira In this work, some of the available models for prediction of instantaneous forces in
end milling were compared. Most of the models presented a similar shape in the description of the force
variation, the exception were the models which included edge forces. A new proposal including edge forces and
an energy approach for the cutting forces was presented and compared with the existing models.

PROBLEM STATMENT
In order to achieve machining productivity and part quality, the part programmer
must select appropriate cutting conditions but avoid excessive tool wear and tool
breakage. In the milling process, these changes are closely linked with the cutting
forces acting on the milling cutter.

PROPOSED WORK
