when talking about habits( ) or facts( ) we use SIMPLE PRESENT form of the verbs.

When talking about an action that is not always


happening, but is happening NOW, use
PRESENT CONTINOUS verb tense.

Verbs in the present continuous form express action (verb + ing)


walking, talking, hitting
Some verbs do not express action, but tell about a situation that exist. These are
called non action verbs (no ing)
examples
like: Right now, I am liking Korea.
Right now, I like Korea
believe: I am believing in God.
I believe in God.
own:
He is owning a new car.
He owns a new car.
Some verbs appear to be both action and non action verbs, but the meaning is
different.
example
see: Right now, I see Tom. (see him with my eyes).
Right now, I am seeing Tom. (dating)

When do we use this verb tense?


1. To describe situations that began in the past and continue up to now

Mrs. Oh has been a teacher since 2002.

Mr. Cha has been a teacher for 10 years.

Simple past past event when there is a specific mention of time
