MEGGER 1020/2
The new MIT1020/2, 10kV insulation resistance
tester is all designed
specifically to assist the
user with the testing and
maintenance of high
voltage equipment. The
instruments are designed
in a landscape style which
is more familiar and user
friendly. [1]

General Description
The MIT1020/2 is a microprocessor controlled 10 kV insulation
tester offering measurement capability of up to 35 T. The
instrument performs automatic tests and has data storage and
data retrieval facilities.
The results are shown in the large LCD and depending on the
model, can be stored in a large capacity internal memory for later
access via the display or via USB download.[2]
Megger is a registered trademark.
Part No. MIT1020_2_UG_en_V09 1112.

Features
Continuous resistance or current measurement on main display.

Parameters to be
measured [3]
Winding resistance: Methodology
You should try to saturate the core. This
usually happens when the test current is
approximately 1% of the rated current.
Never exceed 10% of the rated current. This
could cause erroneous readings due to heating
of the windings.
If the test current is too low, the measured
resistance is not consistent.

Parameters to be measured
The first point proceeds to short circuit the primary
windings
and secondary transformer.
Now, testing the secondary side with ground and guard.

Parameters to be measured
In the measuring equipment MIT1020 / 2 press the
button "MODE" and select the test mode.
Never disconnect the cables before the inductance of
the transformer is completely discharged.
Among the tests are:
1. An insulation resistance test 'IR'
This test mode measures insulation
continuously at the selected voltage.

2. Polarisation index PI
absorption ratio DAR test

test,

and

dielectric

The PI test is a particular example of a time/resistance

method, which takes the ratio of the insulation measured
at 1 minute and at 10 minutes.
Polarisation Index (PI) = R10 min/R1 min
The Dielectric Absorption Ratio is the term applied to
the polarisation index using other time intervals set by T1
and T2.
Dielectric Absorption Ratio (DAR) = RT2 min/RT1 min
