HAMLET

SETTING: Late Medieval period in Denmark
PROTAGONIST: Hamlet
ANTAGONIST: King Claudius
MYSTERY OF FATHERS DEATH: while his
father was napping on the garden, his
uncle, King Claudius poisoned him by
leperous distillment which caused horrible
sores that led to his death.

HIGH POINTS IN THE STORY:


The climax of the play is the Hamlet-Laertes duel.
Claudius has fixed the outcome of the duel in such a
way that Hamlet will perish no matter what. Queen
Gertrude accidentally drinks some poison intended for
Hamlet and dies. Hamlet, wounded by Laertes' poisoned
sword, stabs his opponent. Before he dies, Laertes tells
Hamlet about the evil plots of Claudius and the poison
now coursing through Hamlet's veins. He tells the
wounded prince his death is very near. Before he dies,
Hamlet stabs Claudius and forces him to drink
poison.Then, as Hamlet dies, he forgives Laertes, tells
Horatio to tell his tale, and dies.

ENDING: Hamlet is sent to England to be killed;


Hamlet returns to Denmark and confronts Laertes
at Ophelias funeral; the fencing match; the deaths
of the royal family

NOLI ME TANGERE
AUTHOR/DATE: Jose Rizal, 1887
SETTING: 19th century, Philippines
PROTAGONIST: Juan Crisostomo Ibarra
ANTAGONIST: Padre Damaso
MYSTERY OF FATHERS DEATH: Don Rafael was
arrested and imprisoned. Languishing in jail,
Don Rafael suffered much unpleasantness; the
cruelty that abound undermined his iron will
that he eventually fell ill with a disease. Death
seemed to be the only cure.

HIGH POINTS IN THE STORY:


After the captured attackers testified Ibarra as the mastermind in the
planned rebellion, he was then arrested but Elias freed him from
imprisonment. While escaping on a banca, Guardia Civil started
shooting at them. Fortunately, Ibarra managed to escape but Elias
was fatally wounded as he reached the mausoleum of the Ibarras in
the forest and was later on died.

ENDING:
Maria Clara refused to marry Linares, and instead she entered
nunnery of Santa Clara and became miserable.
Padre Salvi who was secretly eyeing Maria Clara left the Parish of San
Diego to become chaplain of nunnery.
Padre Damaso who became despondent, was transferred to a remote
province and was later on died.
Kapitan Tiago became an opium addict.
Linares died of dysentery.
Dona Victorina began wearing eyeglasses on account of her
weakening eyesight.
The alferez returned to Spain, leaving his mistress Dona Consolacion.

THE LION KING

SETTING: Africa, The Pride Lands
PROTAGONIST: Hamlet
ANTAGONIST: Scar
MYSTERY OF FATHERS DEATH: Simba wandered in
the wilderness then later on approached by an
intense charging herd of wildebeest, his father
rescued him by putting him to higher rocks. Simbas
father, Mufasa, couldve been survived if only Scar
(Simbas uncle) helped him when hes asking for
help.

HIGH POINTS IN THE STORY:


When Scar finally said that it was him who
killed Mufasa, enraged, Simba leaps over the
edge and pins Scar, choking him to confess the
truth to the lionesses. Fighting immediately
breaks out between the hyenas and the lions.
As Scar begs for his life at the top of the Pride
Rock, he said that he was not the real enemy
but instead it was the hyenas. He groggily
stands up and notices the hyenas approaching
him from between the flames. He greets them
as his friends but they respond that he said
they were the enemy. Scar looks at them in
horror as they lick their lips and surround him
before attacking.

ROSALINDA

SETTING: Mexico
PROTAGONIST: Rosalinda
ANTAGONIST: Valeria
MYSTERY OF FATHERS DEATH: One day, Don Jose
Fernando sends a letter to Soledad pretending to be
Alfredo. When she arrives at their meeting place, Don
Jose Fernando tries to rape Soledad. Alfredo arrives
just in time and kills Jose Fernando to save Soledad.
However, Alfredo collapses from a seizure, and
Soledad is left holding the gun.
