Description of our project


This presentation is based on a hospital project called
Pay Error Reduction Initiative, which was created in an
attempt to discover the cause of a high rate of pay error
and to find an effective solution to resolve the issue.
By using Excel technology the hospital was being able
to reduce human based error of the nurses appropriate
salary.

The business and industry


The healthcare industry within Quebec is a blend with
public and private services.
Mcgill University health center is one of the largest
English speaking public institutions within the province.
Leader in innovation and technology across not only
Quebec or Canada but on the world stage.
They must compete with other public institutions to
receive the funding needed to reach their goals.

Problems
The main problem the business faced was with pay errors
causing:
Higher turnover rate
Decreased patient safety
Higher financial cost

Excel
Excel is a spreadsheet program
It can be used to create graphs and charts
Can be used for solving equations
Allows for projections to be created

Generates own daily assignment sheet
Allows for users to see all specialized staff on any given
day

Conclusion
The Pay Error Reduction Initiative had achieved the
desired objectives and had satisfied the interests of all
stakeholders involved. The business received a
reduction of expenses and reduction in error potentially
reducing turnover rate in the long term; the employees
received an appropriate and satisfactory system of
calculating their salaries. Therefore, we conclude the
project was a success with the software resolving not
only the issue it aimed to resolve but several others.
