INTRODUCTION
Storage devices are hardware devices that are capable
of storing information in a computer.
Such as CD, Pendrive, Cloud Server, Memory Card,
Hard Disk/Drive, Solid State Drive (SSD), Floppy
Diskette,
Connector for storage device such as Universal Serial
Bus (USB). Nowdays, have been existing a new version
of version like ; USB 3.0 formly know as USB 2.0. . That
is call a revolution of technology. . Firewire also are
connector for storage device.

HISTORY OF CHRONOLOGY STORAGE

DEVICES
MAGNETIC TAPE
( 1928 )
- Was Made in Germany
- A medium formagnetic
recording, made of a thin
magnetic coating on a
long, narrow strip
ofplastic film.

HISTORY OF CHRONOLOGY STORAGE

DEVICES
MAGNETIC DRUM
( 1932 )
- It was widely used in the
1950s and 60s

- Magnetic drum memory

had a capacity of around
10 kB.

HISTORY OF CHRONOLOGY STORAGE

DEVICES
SELECTRON TUBE
(1946 )
- The Selectron tube had a
capacity of 256 to 4096
bits (32 to 512 bytes).

- Storage device proved

expensive and suffered
from production
problems.

HISTORY OF CHRONOLOGY STORAGE

DEVICES
HARD DISK
DRIVE(1956 )
- A hard disk implements

rotating platters, which

stores and retrieves bits
of digital information from
a flat magnetic surface.

- It had 24-inch discs with

a total storage capacity
of just under 5 MB).

HISTORY OF CHRONOLOGY STORAGE

DEVICES

Floppy Disk 5.25"

(1976)
- The 5.25-inch floppy disk
had a storage capacity of
110 kilobytes.

HISTORY OF CHRONOLOGY STORAGE

DEVICES

Floppy Disk 3.5"

(1981 )
- It had a rigid metal cover
that made it harder to
damage the magnetic
film inside.

HISTORY OF CHRONOLOGY STORAGE

DEVICES
CD (1984 )
- Also known as the
Compact Disk

- Allowed for larger

amounts of data to be
stored.

HISTORY OF CHRONOLOGY STORAGE

DEVICES
DVD (1995)
- DVD became the next

generation of digital disc

storage.

- Bigger and faster

alternative to the
compact disc, serves to
store multimedia data.

HISTORY OF CHRONOLOGY STORAGE

DEVICES

DVD-RW( 1996 )
- The DVDRewritable disc,

a rewritable version of
the DVD R, allows users
to record digital data over
previous data.

HISTORY OF CHRONOLOGY STORAGE

DEVICES

Multimedia Card
(1997 )
- The Multimedia Card
(MMC) uses a flash
memory.

HISTORY OF CHRONOLOGY STORAGE

DEVICES
Pendrive /
Thumbdrive(1999 )
- A USB Flash Drive uses a
NAND-type flash memory to
store digital data.
- Only 16 MB
- Now have USB 2.0 and 3.0
that are difference are their
SPEED.

HISTORY OF CHRONOLOGY STORAGE

DEVICES
Secure Digital Card
(SD Card) ( 2000)
- Standard SD cards
measure 32 millimeters
by 32 millimeters by 2.1
millimeters.
- A typical SD card stores
digital media for a
portable device.

HISTORY OF CHRONOLOGY STORAGE

DEVICES
Blu Ray( 2003 )
- Blu-Ray is the next
generation of optical disc
format used to store high
definition video (HD) and
high density storage.
- Up to 25GB of space.

HISTORY OF CHRONOLOGY STORAGE

DEVICES
Cloud Backup
( 2010 )
- Cloud enables to protect
data using backup,
recover from a disaster,
and archive unused files
using only a lightweight
software.

NOWDAYS/LATEST TECHNOLOGY

CLOUD STORAGE (Cloud Server)

- Such as DropBox, SkyDrive by MSN, Google
Cloud, Mediafire, HotFiles, 4shared, Rapidshare,
Depositfiles and many more

NOWDAYS/LATEST TECHNOLOGY
HARD DISK DRIVE (HDD) SOLID STATE DRIVE (SSD)

SOLID STATE DRIVE

(SSD)
- The USB that oversize as HDD.
- NO rotating platter.
- NO noise.
- MORE Faster ~ Up to 550Mbps
*** HDD ~ Up to 50 Mbps.
- MORE Lightweight.
- NO Vibration as there are no
moving parts

NOWDAYS/LATEST TECHNOLOGY
- UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS
(USB).
- USB 2.0 Up to 480 Mbps
(Megabits per second) only.
- USB 3.0 Up to 4.8 Gbps (Giga
bits per second)
- Firewire Up to 800 Mbps only.
- Thunderbolt Up to 10Gbps (Giga
bits per second)
*** The
fastest is their class.
